How rude should judges be?

Some people feel that the judges are too rude to contestants. They should be polite and need not criticise someone to the extent that they feel bad.

Others feel that real life is not a bed of roses and if somebody is untalented, there is nothing wrong in being told so. The judges should be even ruder, in fact!

What's your opinion on this subject?

This is nothing compared to Anerican Idol or Canadian Idol.....the cacphonic guys should know how they really sound like. But I just hope that they don't overdo it.

Everybody has different viewpoints, whether its public or judges, if you see the reality shows, it does have a common similarity, huge difference of opinion of judges and public as a whole.

That contestent who made the judges sleep was himself rude and pathetic in terms of singing. he even openly ordered the judges not to sleep because he thought it was a big insult to him. he thwm goes out and bashes Anu Malik and the judges for being irrational to him.

If he claims that people stare at him when they listen to his songs (thats what that contestent said on camera), then , you should sing properly, why waste time in insulting Indian music as a whole?

Personally though I have my own fair share of opinions of judges, they have been in the field of music and music is their passion, bread and butter.

That man of course, bashes anu malik, who in turn is listening every word he is saying by standing just behind him, if you recall that scene of the episode and of course, Anu Malik gave his fair share of answer that he insulted the Indian music by singing so badly in sur, leh and taal included.

Now, coming to the reaction of kids in that article, perhaps we should know that today's kids are a total different kind than those about a decade or 2 decades ago. They spend more time in TV, listen to more music and of course, belying their age, mature enough to give opinions!

An example: Yesterday's episode of a program called chuck dhoom dhoom was showing 2 girls dancing to item songs of rakhi sawant. Dancing was OK, but I really liked Saroj Khan's opinion in which she said straight on the parents' mouth,

"aapne apne bachchon ko train kiya hai ki nahi? agar kiya hai to is bakwaas gaane ke liye? zaraa sochiye ki in bachchon ko galat cheez sikha kar agar abhi se bigaa doge to aage jaakar yeh kya muh dikhayange? yeh gaane bade log ladkon ko impress karne ke liye item ladkiyaan karti hain. are, kum se kum gaane to bachchon ki umar ke hisaab se chuniye.. i am just shocked.."

Of course, those 2 girl contestants, both under age 10, were rejected in auditions.

Saroj Khan was a bit rude, but she spoke for their well being (bachchon ke bhale ki liye). She obviously wanted kids to stay away from vulgarity at such an early age, which is a good sign of an honest and sincere judge.

Yes, judges have the right to be a bit rude, but in a controlled manner so that nobody feels bad and the contestant takes something positive out of it. But sometimes some contestants are themselves so rude or arrogant. For them, its good if the judges talk to him/her in its own language.

Thanks cosworthkid for the info on Saroj Khan on the other show. I never watch any reality show with children in it (other than clips of musical shows if some famous musician is a guest 😃) because it's disgusting to see children perform songs that are well above their age!

Anyway, as for judges' rudeness... If this was a PROPER audition, i.e. one without any TV cameras, half of these characters would not even turn up. I think what peeves off the judges most is untalented people who just come there to appear on TV.

Today's kids especially below 15 yrs are a different sort than those in the 18-25 age group and older age group...the latter being more balanced

a. The kids of the mid and late 90's are extremely precocious - They think TV, Internet is their life. They can't see beyond the visual life. that's why this generation does not read books like their counterparts did a decade ago. Not even Tintin, Tinkle comics, but Enid Blyton books, imagination, creativity,outdoor games...all on d way out.

b. These kids are lacking in General Knowledge - India is fast becoming like the U.S, just ask the 10-15 yr olds today any question as simple as - 'How many oceans are there in d world?' - 90% won't b able to answer.

c. Thye are celebrity- crazy - They idolize Hannah Montana, Twilight and such bizarre stuff. Last generation at least had Harry potter which was intelligent enough. Nowadays the trend towards pop-music taht too of a crappy kind is being idolized by kids. This pop music is far worse than even Backstreet Boys n Britney Spears of a generation back. There is much dumbing down in name of music.

Overall the music relaity shows will only get bigger is my prediction. The kids are competition- crazy. i saw last year in little champs 2009 the way the kids were bitching about each other and the unhealthy attitude to competiton ( except Abhigyan of course). On the other hand, see the contestnats of shows like Challenge 2007 where Aneek, Raja, sumedha etc are such good friends.

Excuse me, but are you trying to say that the current generation is dumb? I'm 15 years old and am currently reading The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown. I can give an overview of Noetic Sciences if you like and also tell you how wormholes and blackholes are interconnected by the presence of negative energy/matter. Oh, come on, don't generalize, where have you seen b.? If you're trying to say that US kids don't know the oceans of the world, then you're truly wrong! To you have proof to back up your lien??? I on the other hand, have seen both parts of the world, and therefore,can see the diffrence. Most Americans don't seem to care about their education, hence the dropout rate is high, but how can judge the eductaiopn system without experiencing it???Your POV is hilarious!😆😆😆 I have never really idolized celebrities, I have liked them, but you probably won't understnad from the vista of kids, what they mean by 'idolizing'. DUDE! like some of the contestants are not that great at all! God, knows what they show up thinking! I dont blame judges for being rude! HELL, id be more rude! They are pretty bad and they have to know it. If being rude gets the message across then so be it. lol

And yes.. as someone just said.. in the next page..its more constructive criticism..i agree there as well.. .. the thing is..

many of the contestants like.. im sure they have dreams and such..but i think rudeness might get them more motivated even..they might be like OH they think I cant sing..i will show them! you know? Other times people foresake singing.. honestly is that bad? LOL..idk...guess

but mimzi..agree that its pretty entertaining lol...but othertimes is quite annoying..like..im sure someone HAD to have told them..or they SHOULD be knowing they dont have it.. like that one contestant that croaked like a frog..i mean..really?

I agree that there should be a limit to rudeness. Sometimes Anu Malik does tend to go over-board with his sarcasm for a 'be-sura' singer, but that is just him as he is. On the other hand, he is extra-emotional for those who sing great, he comes up and hugs them, showers praises on them. It shows that he is an emotional person on both positive and negative end, and that is what makes him so real as a person.

I also sometimes feel that those who come for auditions should also know that where they stand in terms of singing. Judges show sarcasm specifically towards those who are not even near to the term of 'good singing'. I myself find it astonishing that how such 'be-sura' people thought of coming up in front of the camera without any singing talent in them. Maybe through their sarcasm, the judges want to convey to the audience that one should first 'check' his 'singing-talent' before coming on the show.

I don't think being rude is any bad whilst the judge being rude is absolutely right!! 🤔

Just by saying that so and so was "be-sura" is not at all rude.. He's just being straight-forward and that's the way he is! ..

That's his POV.. and his way of expressing views!

Some are sweet.. and they are fine too.. but you cannot accuse a person on being rude inspite of being fair enough!!

And besides.. have you seen Simon Cowell's and sometimes even Randy's comments ??? It's like being slapped hard when they're harsh!!

I would like to decide on the comments if they're fair and correct.. and not by how rude or sweet they are..

I think today's judges are overboard either with praises or with critisism. The number of times judges goes on saying better than original etc is bad. Equally bads is treating a person like dirt. One should respect people. You can be stright forward in your openion but one should be insulting. I agree many people just think it is too easy to be famouse but that does not necessarily means the judges should insult them. How would they take it if someone insults them openly for something? It is said do what you expect others do to you. What I have observed bigger the artist is more humility in them. I have never seen a Lataji or Pt. Joshi or any other of the strature insulting anyone.
