(The scenes where Shekhar stood up to his father for Laali (pre-wedding) were electric, as were Laali's exchanges with Gangiya, who is also a superb negative female lead.)
Shekhar fighting for Laali's love...That was what attracted most female viewers. A love story is a must for the female viewers to tune in, discuss and talk about the program. They are the life blood of the show's success.
Now, with Laali pregnant, any mothers or moms-to-be in the viewership will be very attentive to the storyline. But her pregnancy is being ignored, which is a major part of the development of her character as a woman as she transitions. Shekhar still doesn't know about the baby, and doesn't even inquire and they have already been intimate.
We know that Laali is the key character, but when atrocity after atrocity occurs and no one steps in to provide a resolution, it becomes difficult to watch the protagonist suffer repeatedly.
Laali and Shekhar were a team. Lately, with the kidnapping, and with the showing of the promo where she tells him she's with his child, and that promo not being shown in any episode, the viewer feels a little cheated.
Your viewership is like a person going to the bank. Let's say you, the writers of the show are the bank. We invest our time and energy to be entertained by you, and when we don't get any ROI (return on investment) it takes away from the mystique of the show.
Once the mystique is lost, viewership can fall.
The show started out with a bang, but now the story is lagging. You have a great set of performers. Ratan Rajput is magical to watch, Abhishek Rawat is a fine performer, especially in the scenes with Sudesh Berry.
The best chemistry is between the romantic lead. The negativity factor got a bit too high in the last few weeks. We can understand you wanting to give the story twists and turns and keep us on the edge of our seats, but after every storm there's a lull.
There has been no lull so far, and since the female viewers have seen the part where Shekhar rubs off Laali's sindoor and rips off her sacred mangalsutra, it has changed the entire dynamics of their relationship.
I don't think Shekhar can be viewed as a romantic lead with her anymore, unless Ganeshiya is introduced as her new love interest, which is highly unlikely. The public will only accept Shekhar as her romantic lead.
But with him pointing a gun at her forehead, despite the fact that he rescued her, that is an image not easily obliterated from the viewer's mind.
I'll end this by saying that the show may be exciting, but also stale by creating conflict upon conflict with not a single resolution for the most loved characters.
That can be mighty frustrating to us.
