I have been guilty of some of these myself, and I know that it has been so lax for long that its almost second nature. However, to maintain decorum, ensure that topics stay on track and people can engage in discussions without sifting through pages of spam such rules will be imposed.

I think we are all guilty of the above at some point or another. I myself have been guilty of too much chit chat now and then as illustrated in this thread. Once in a while it can be a trivial thing. However, I think here on DM it has become so far gone that all threads are degenerating to flood threads. There is a time and place for everything. There is a chat section. Birthday threads and such have room for some small talk and hopefully soon we will have MOTW or such things too.

For now I think we all can put a conscious effort in ensuring that our posts are easy on the eyes and the threads are clean; respecting the fact that this forum is intended for debate/discussions. So in that light, I shall put this thread on the chopping block too.
