Sa Re Ga Ma takes Zee next to top

Ludhiana, February 21: SA Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 has helped Zee TV reach the number two slot in the general entertainment channel rating. Star stands at number one, Zee at number two and Sony has slipped to the third position, said Ashish Kaul, senior vice-president of Zee Network, who was in the city today afternoon.
The grand finale of Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge will be on February 24. Kaul said that the channel will give another chance to the contestants voted out by public demand. The final contest is between Debojit from the Ismail Darbar's gharana and vinit from Himesh's gharana.
Kaul said that the programme has been an extremely successful series. ''The end of Challenge 2005 will herald the beginning of yet another series. In this, apart from the contestants who were voted out, auditions for a few more will be done. We will have a new challenge for the best duet singers. Since most female singers have not got much support from the audience, another chance is being given to them.''
The winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 will get a music contract with Sa Re Ga Ma HMV, and a two-year sponsored stay in Mumbai. However, many contestants have already bagged leading playback opportunities. The most prominent of them are Vineet with Himesh Reshammiya for Zayed Khan-starter Rocky, Rajeev and Himani for Kalpana Lajmi's Chingari, Nihira Joshi and Hemachandra for Alagh and many more, he said.
