It sometimes seems like Sid is trying to learn from mistakes like the mistake Armaan made by not giving Ridz a choice - and he tried to give her the freedom to choose her own path. But simultaneously, like you said, she needed to feel like she and Sid are a unit and not just two people "stuck together". It felt that every time one of them will take a step forward the other would unknowingly take one back and they managed to reach common ground for that brief moment before Armaan returned and things went back to the dark ages where it took months for communications to get from one place to another.
But I feel Ridz had a huge part to play in creating the current situation and Sid feeling insecure and inferior because
a) did it not occur to her to tell Armaan the truth in the 2nd or 3rd or 4th or 5th time she saw him BEFORE Mrs Modi came to the hospital? The longer she waited, the more it felt to Sid as if she was holding back because she was reconsidering their marriage
b) Sid had once accurately said "mere haar sawal ka jawab tumhare khamoshi nahin hai Riddhima" during their mini-confession. And it's her silence that has always added to Sid's confusion and considering all the declarations she has made about her life her choice and her future, she should've been more clear about her stance and not given opaque answers to Sid and if for just once in her life she could stand and face the truth instead of running.
Sid did make some attempts to talk to her but was either shot down or she ran away.
Both these two need to TALK!!! Communication has always been a problem. Perhaps Ridz is still afraid to put all her cards out but if she doesn't speak soon then she'll lose another great guy.
