Finally the cat is out of the bag, probably they took a week too many to let it out. Today! the cat which came out of the bag was asphyxiated, its tongue was hanging out. She sat there next to the bag for the remaining show. By the looks of the cat she never wanted to come out and die in the bag peacefully.
Normally in comedy shows, they create a misunderstanding between characters and as the outcome it creates laughter. What one person says and how the other one understands creates a funny scene. e.g. A girl has a blind date and is ready waiting for him and some doctor knocks at her door, who is on his first house call to give medication to some young lady who is mentally ill. Girl thinks that he is her date and he assumes she is mentally sick and he has to give her the medication. There is exchange of dialogues and each dialogue brings out a laughter anticipating the end result of this misunderstanding. Only for the reason that the viewers know both the sides it becomes very enjoyable and has been used as a success formula in many a shows.
Another aspect to such approach is that I saw a movie where the girls bring flowers for her friend and who is lying on her bed pretending to be dead, her friends also think so, but then they discover that she was really dead. This way we get laughter and emotional shocks.
The dramas are created in a similar fashion, they build up the suspense, tense up everyone and then finally let the cat out of the bag. It is made like an emotional roller coaster, where you feel that your going up and down, left and right, over and under, moving at high speeds but on ground you have just covered few meters.
What did not go right here, in my opinion, was the way this scene was built up. Viewers all this time knew that Armaan will come to know about this, and it will break his heart but how he is going to react was what they wanted to know.
The way the delay was being created or time was being bought to consume episode after episodes has done more harm to the reputation of the show than gained any popularity. The production team did not play positively. They reminded me of a smoker who would not stop puffing till the cigarette butt start to burn his fingers and then he is forced to throw. I guess this is what happened today.
Here except for Armaan and Sid's Mom everyone else knew the reality. Viewers knew both the sides. But the way it was played to where everything started looking fake to the extent that it started to hurt people's intelligence, because the scene stretched more to fill in the time than actually any twist and was taken more of a humiliation to a wife in front of her husband and colleagues. How many people would have laughed ?
- Armaan goes along with her game and never questions or request Sid's Mom to speak to her love-of-the-life with some affection. He never realizes that he is overdoing it, one can say since he was getting desperate to get her back. His body language was indifferent to Riddhima's expressions.
- The condition applied by Sid. "Apney liye nahin apnon ke liye"
- Sid's Mom malingering sickness and the pressure on Sid.
- Yuvi and Naina's love story. The sacrifice made by Sid and Riddhima to hide their marriage.
What happened to all the concerns???? A hoax, a time delay fuse attached to a balloon. Phhooooooshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! air out of the balloon.
At one stage when they started showing more flashbacks on Sid, I was confused. To me it appeared that as if, Sid after his marriage with Riddhima has lost his memory and they are staging the drama to bring back his memory. His looks, Riddhima's looks, marriage ceremonies flashbacks. If you don't believe me just look at that part of the show again.
As Sid memory returns, he stands for Riddhima, in front of Armaan and his mother, not caring whether she would be stressed.
Riddhima is still shown crying alone, after it has been made open, at least Su and Naina could have gone to her and comforted her and be happy about her, instead they were busy in high-level HR meeting with other colleagues.
PreCap: Now Armaan has become violent. Great! this is what we were missing! Was he beating up Sid or the Scriptwriter? Let's see tomorrow.
