Today's episode was great until the end, and had a new twist - Jyoti suddenly being asked by Basu to appear in a talk show. She's just written one article in that paper, and she's worth TV appearances? And no prep is done or anything - he just asks her to go there ex-tempore? No wonder Jyoti looked like a fish out of water, and yet, everybody thought she was great. 😕 Interestingly enough, this show happens @ 7:30pm, which is convenient, b'cos since the family watches Imagine TV (Sudha & Dadi were once shown watching 'Ghar ki baat hei' and MN&G were once watching 'Pati, patni aur woh'), everybody on the show has their channel locked to that, but that leaves them w/ a problem of what to watch @ 7:30, since they can't watch Jyoti, since they are Jyoti. So at least this talk show is there to fill up the time slot 😆😆😆
It was funny watching everybody's reaction to her appearance - be it Kabir, the Trivedis, Kalpana, Suday, and even Gayatri & Bhairavi. Gayatri seemed to be 'proud' of Jyoti, although Bhairavi was pissed - she's kicked Jyoti out of home, and there she is on TV representing her entire gender 😆😆😆 And yeah, Poonam told her parents and Kabir knew beforehand, but everyone has the same TV tastes - Suday, Gayatri, Kalpana (ok, she was channel surfing)? After all, nobody from the Sharmas called up Sudha to tell her where Jyoti was on.
Also, instead of telling Jyoti not to go to work and Jyoti telling them about the rights of the people who wanted to assault her, why didn't the Sharma's simply call the cops and have the place cleared? Yeah, they have a right to be outraged, but as the saying goes, that right ends when the safety of those they disagree w/ is endangered. So the Sharmas could have called the cops, waited for the mohulla to be cleared, and then sent Jyoti off to work. And how difficult was it for Padma to tell Jyoti that she had to wait out a mob, and that's tangential to their rights as citizens?

The aftermath of this event was uncalled for. First of all, on the day that she accidentally appears on the show, it's not like everybody would have seen it. As it is, there are some 100 channels on TV, and how many would watch essentially an opinion exchange, even on a topic like this? So it was irrational to show the public getting riled to the point of being ready to assault Jyoti @ home. And how likely is it that a lot of women watching that show would refuse to have sex w/ their hubbies on account of Jyoti's views on marital rape?Also, instead of telling Jyoti not to go to work and Jyoti telling them about the rights of the people who wanted to assault her, why didn't the Sharma's simply call the cops and have the place cleared?
