Mira Nair's film goes to Cannes
Filmmaker Mira Nair's The Namesake will premiere at the Cannes film festival this May. It is an adaptation of Jhumpa Lahiri's novel of the same name. The tale of an immigrant Indian family in the US struck a chord within Mira and she decided to make the movie. Mira Nair is hoping to repeat the success of her last film Monsoon Wedding, which incidentally also premiered at the Cannes film festival. Apparently, Mira has already begun work on her next project, which is a Hollywood version of the Bollywood hit Munnabhai MBBS, aptly titled Gangster, MD.
