Hi everyone
Here is my second post of the day. I couldn't help writing this one as I have to commend the director and the lead actors (Both Karans and Jenni) for rising above the script in the last 2 weeks..again this is about characters and not actors.
We all agree that the script is quite insane and illogical but despite the poor script, the three actors and director have done a wonderful job.
Examples of great direction and acting:
1. Scenes between AR and SR show a subtle difference between the way they interact with each other.There is always a distance and some stiffness between SR but between AR, even when they are glaring at each other angrily, their body language is more intimate and shows the comfort between the characters. Their body language reflects their true relationship better than their words or actions.
2. The director has purposely shown scenes in which both Sid and Armaan get a 'upperhand' so to speak and he had hinted a while back with the one on one basketball game between the two men. Both Sid and Armaan scored equal baskets but in the end, Armaan scored the winning shot with assistance from Sid.
3. In today's court martial scene, Ridz couldn't help looking at Armaan with a hint of tenderness as he narrated their love story (she even had a faint smile at one point) and she kept looking at Sid with a helpless and embarrassed expression. That must have been really hard for jenni as she had to change her expressions in a split of second but she did a great job. On first glance, it might also appear that she was just confused but I feel there was more depth in those expressions than mere confusion.
Whatever the end result of the story might be, even with this lame script, I am enjoying the wonderful acting of the three main leads and subtle direction by the new director.
