C.I.D. Wikipedia Article

I thought it would be better to have a separate thread to discuss the wikipedia article. As you know, the wiki page is a big mess because people have been carelessly copy-pasting stuff into it.

I think we should try to organize the wiki page using all the information available here in our forum. We can all contribute whatever we can. To that end, let's lay down some guidelines:

  • Do NOT provide links to any episode videos in the article. This can lead to copyright issues.
  • When you make a change, remember to provide a short summary of the change (there is a "Edit Summary" field available whenever anyone tries to edit an article). This will help others to figure out what has been changed and why. If you forget to leave the edit summary in the wiki page then come here and post in this thread about it. Either way we'll at least know what happened.
  • Try to provide reference links for information provided in the article where possible.

Recent updates:

bentogoa has created a page for the List of Episodes and debayon earlier edited the cast list I believe. I don't know who else has contributed.

So far I have done the following major changes:

  • Updated the Infobox with detailed information on running time, removed the "seasons" entry (since this show does not follow the seasons format), corrected the episode count and mentioned "2 Special Episodes" (i.e. the Azaadi Special and The Inheritance aired in 2004) and also mentioned the spin-off show C.I.D. Special Bureau. I have also provided a proper link to the List of Episodes page created by bentogoa. There was also a mistake in the broadcast information section (the launch year was given as 1996) which I have corrected.
  • Completely re-organized the Cast List. Eventually we will need to create a separate page for the cast where we can provide details for each character.
  • Added the names of Dilip Kulkarni and Arif Zakaria to the list of celebrities who have appeared on C.I.D.

bentogoa and I have also added links back to this forum. Other than that I have made some minor changes here and there.

@Kal El, I just wanted to say that you can add any information I post here in Wikipedia. If its well formatted, that will be great.

Can you add the link to CID's Wikipedia page in the first post.

The 2002 episode list up. I've also added an introduction and a series overview table to the episode lists page. Although the episodes are organized by year from 2002 onwards, I decided to create only a single section for the 1998-2001 episodes for now because we don't have all the names or the complete sequence yet.

Some day I hope to add the writers and directors of the cases to the list. Of course this will be tough for the earlier episodes since I'd need the intro sequence to get the information. Anyway, that is not a big concern now.

Guys, I need your help with the DCP characters. As far as I can see, the earliest DCP on the show was DCP Dipankar played by Dilip Kulkarni. He appeared in 1999 (The Case of Death by Drowning) as well as in 2000 (The Case of the Blind Witness). There may have been a DCP in Viren's first case but we can't confirm that as long as they don't show that case.

For reference, this is DCP Dipankar as he appeared in The Case of the Blind Witness:

DCP #2

Couple of years later, Ahmed Khan shows up as the DCP, Here he is in The Case of the Invisible Bullet from 2002.

The change was likely due to the fact that Dilip Kulkarni passed away in 2002 (may his soul rest in peace). I don't think Ahmed Khan is actually playing DCP Dipankar, he is playing a different DCP. I suppose we can assume that Dipankar got a promotion or he was transferred or he died, etc.

Now, does anyone know if DCP # 2's name was ever mentioned on-screen? In the invisible bullet case he is simply referred to as "DCP Sahab", nothing more. An actual name would be nice for the wiki article.

DCP # 3

Some years later yet another DCP showed up, this time played by Surendra Pal. He appeared in a number of cases in 2005. Here he is from The Case of the Killer Lake:

Once again, I don't think his name was actually mentioned in any of his appearances. Quite odd if you ask me. If I am wrong and his name was mentioned, could someone please let me know?

Finally we come to this: in The Case of the Staged Murder, both the second and third DCPs showed up together along with another unnamed official as a panel of judges:

So what happened: did this panel of judges consist of at least 2 DCPs? Or did DCP #2 get a promotion between 2002 and 2005 and he appeared in this case as a Commissioner or something? Do we have any information on this? I'd like the wiki article to be as accurate as possible so some help would be nice.

Another thing: I have tried to put up the ranks and duration of appearances of the characters in the cast list. I need some help in confirming and completing some of these details, especially the ranks of the female officers. Asha was a Sub-Inspector from her first appearance. In The Case of the Two Abhijits (2000), she is referred as an Inspector. Perhaps she was promoted just like Daya? However, I'd like to confirm that she was consistently referred to as Inspector Asha from then on because it could have been goof-up in that episode.

I am more uncertain about the female officers after Asha, especially the ones who showed up after the show changed to the one-hour format in 2006. These officers are frequently referred to simply as "Officer" and not by their rank which is just annoying. I have relied on memory and some guesswork to identify them as Inspector or Sub-Inspector. So it would be nice if you guys went through the list and corrected any mistakes.

I know Muskaan was SI. Tasha too is SI, I think. Rest of the girls after Muskan were plain horrible and I never kept track of anything regarding them. I was just waiting for them to leave.

Thanks I corrected Muskaan's rank. I am mostly confused about Divyana, Lavanya and Kaveri. True they were bad but I'd like the information to be as accurate as possible.

Lavanya and Kaveri entered in "Khoon Bhari Holi". Taarika and Divyana entered in "The Don's Final Revenge". Do these cases give any information in their intro scenes?
