Dil Mil Gaye started out as a youth based show for the youths i.e. youngsters like you and I, then again there were those who could relate to it but did not mean it was the only target audience, my mum and my sisters watch it alongside me and these are only a couple of examples. Due to its enjoyable, informative nature, Dil Mil Gaye set out to portray a storyline which was different to the "usual Saas Bahu" genre people were used to seeing everyday!
Understandably, Dil Mil Gaye had to develop at some point, it wasn't always going to stay "informative", for example with regards to a Doctor's day to day life as there are only so many aspects you can show else the situations will start getting repetitive. I can give an example where Armaan and Riddhima in one of their intial cases back in 2007 dealt with a patient who had scars implying she was getting abused by her husband whereas it was diagnosed that she suffered from a syndrome which brought on such symptoms. This year, we saw the new interns specifically Yuvi and Naina dealing with a similar patient but in this case, she was infact getting domestically abused by her husband. This is one of many examples.
As a result, Dil Mil Gaye began focusing on the "couples". Realistically, the new inters were introduced into the show, due to the personal problems the old actors were going through at the time and the viewers were informed that in fact the producers wanted "a fresh start" to the third season. However, due to a diminishing TRP rate, the producers had to reintroduce "Riddhima" back into the show. And not surprisingly, the TRP increased simply due to this change. However, I feel the situation was not dealt with correctly. With time, certain people accepted the new love track between Siddhima and DMG seemed to be getting its old flavour back, people were interested in watching the show due to its fast pace and alleged "new storyline".
However, Armaan's entry is where everything seems to have gone wrong. Please note, I love Armaan-
a) he was brought back SIMPLY due to public demand, there was so much confusion regarding his return in the show, where on the one hand we had a genuine Jennifer Winget asserting she was unaware of his comeback, there were people who saw him adopting the "bearded devdas" look only implying what had come of him in these last few months of his absence.
b) He has always epitomised DMG, although I will not take credit away from the whole team who brought it to the success that is at today. But with regards to characters, three riddhimas may have come into the show but there was only one Armaan who had romanced them. Shilpa, Sukiriti and Jen did amazing to portray their character but had Armaan been changed, there would have been chaos. Fact.
c) There is speculation, and I also agree with it, that "Armaan" 's appearance has changed since 2007, and I have to agree. Ever since his participation in JDJ KSG lost alot of weight and it is evident on his face, those cheeks never to come back, his face looks soo gaunt now. And it is here that people argued maybe he should be changed but truthfully I don't see anyone else fulfiling the role to as much perfection as he does.
Ultimately, I hold the management to blame, they clearly have not thought about the track. What once was a fast moving show has turned into complete drivel. DMG is a show I would watch to relieve me of the tension amounting throughout a working day, the comical aspect implemented was actually really funny. Then why do I feel that ever since showing the AR meeting promo early last week, the actual scene was only shown a couple of days ago. I know that the CVs want to savour the suspense for a prolonged moment but seriously, now that AR have finally met up, nothing has materialised. There are sooo many stories the CVs are trying and failing to show, that regardless of the attitude they take, couples such as YuNa are getting neglected. I feel as if there is not enough being generated of the characters to exemplify their true capabilities. And oh my gosh, the "jokes"....not funny.
DMG is most indefinitely leaving its "youth based" audience and heading towards the darker route of a "Ekta Kapoor" style "Saas bahu" drama. Especially, with the existence of Sid's mum who although has been missing for a good few episodes fits the bill perfectly!
The creatives seemed to be confused as to what to show now that Armaan Riddhima's rendevous has finally happened and are struggling to do justice to what seemed to be a really intense and appealing twist in the story. It is instead slow paced, and ,if anything, has increased the tension between the differing fan bases of the show. All in all nothing good has come of it and SBS confirming that HDDCS is the way the track is headed, everyone is in for further disappoitnement. It is why I feel that DMG has the "one nail left in the coffin". Even if Siddhima get together, all it would lead to is a repitition of scenes of what were once Armaan and Riddhima scenes....how pointless. We can't go anywhere after this?! So a request, please don't ruin what started off to be such a popular programme attracting attention, love, and support from people all around the globe! Its sad that this is what all those previous episodes are having to conclude with .....and the absence of such amazing characters? Atul, Anjali, Muskaan, Rahul to name a few.
I have nothing more to say, apologies if I offended anybody. Please don't put negative comments, I understand sentiments, I am a neutral party and a very upset fan of DMG.
Thank you for reading, over and out! x
