Deepika doesn't believe in size zero

"Correct me if I am wrong, but I personally feel that the Indian body type is not cut out to be size zero. I am not size zero and I don't believe in that either," said Deepika. "I believe that it's nice to be little full and have a nice shape," she added.

The Bollywood actress was the show stopper for designer duo Shantanu & Nikhil's show at the Lakme Fashion Week here Sunday. According to Deepika, an actress gets a role for her performance and not the body type.
"In the (film) industry, body size doesn't matter. What matters is how much an actor contributes through his performance and not his body size," explained Deepika.

"It is important that every person should wear clothes that go with their body - the cut, the fabric make a lot of difference," she added.

Akshay, Deepika flag off Cancer awareness drive

"Spreading awareness about cancer among women is a cause I strongly believe in. One can never give enough support to help acknowledge such a powerful disease. I will always do my best to spread as much awareness about it," said Akshay Kumar, who was present at the 2nd Edition of The Lavasa Women's Drive at the Bandra Reclamation Grounds on Sunday morning.

He, along with his Housefull co-star Deepika Padukone, had come to flag off the cars as they started their journey from Mumbai to Lavasa.

Also present to wish the ladies all the best and cheer them on while supporting the cause were a 'Housefull' audience comprising a number of celebrities as well. Devieka Bhojwani, Tisca Chopra, Dipannita Sharma, mother-daughter duo of Ila and Ishitaa Arun, Adhuna Akhtar, Raageshwari and a host of men including Rahul Bose, Dino Morea, Mannish Goel, Pushtie, Hiten Tejwani, Rahul Roy and Luke Kenny were present. Konkanna Bakshee, Miss India 2009 East winner, was among the participants as was Gul Panag who was navigating her cousin Simran.

The drive was inaugurated by the rosie car in support of cancer by Konkanna Bakshee. There were 1200 women who made it from Mumbai to the picturesque Lavasa, following all the rules set by WIAA which included an average speed of 60km/hr on the 180 km stretch following the tulip chart provided. Dia Mirza also arrived at Lavasa in a chopper to spread awareness about the cause and cheer the women who broke the myth that women can't drive. "Women nowadays need to be aware of themselves and get regular check-ups. Cancer, if detected earlier, can be cured," said Dia, who was also there to promote her upcoming film 'Hum Tum Aur Ghost' A whole host of activities like water sports, a chaat street and a massage corner let the women unwind at Lavasa. "Over a thousand smart women drove to Lavasa today for a noble cause. At Lavasa, their spirits were further heightened with various fun-filled events that were organised," said Anuradha Paraskar, VP, Marketing, Lavasa Corporation.

"It was amazing to see so many women come together to create awareness and raise funds for cancer patients and to also see cars full of women confidently drive up to Lavasa," Deepika summed up the event.
