Saw Ishqiya yesterday! What a delightful movie! And I don't know why the media was making a ruckus about the profanity and abuses used in the movie! There was hardly any such thing and whatever little there was, the script, story and the characters more than justified it! The performances are all top-notch and even though most critics seem to favor Vidya Balan (who is absolutely brilliant, no doubt about it!) in the film, I personally loved Arshad Warsi's acting! The guy is just too funny for words! 😆 His chemistry with both Naseer and Vidya is awesome! And if some of you can understand the 'UP Lingo', then you will find it hard to control your laughter over some of the dialouges he utters! Naseer is as usual perfect in bringing out the vulnerability and helplessness of an aged man who is in the process of falling hopelessly in love with a much younger woman. The guy who plays Vidya's husband was excellent! And so was the young boy, Nandu! His scene with Arshad brought the house down! The dialouges are crackling with wit and humor! Really liked the fact that the director has used old and new hindi songs to show the difference between Khalu (Naseer) and Babban (Arshad) wooing of Krishna! The characters have been etched out with detail, especially Krishna's (Vidya) character, who is shown to be both a shrew as well as someone very vulnerable! There is a particular scene in the movie where both the jealous lovers have a brawl over their lady love, who in the meanwhile cooly takes off, leaving both the men fighting over her affections! 😆 Its refreshing to see that our new age directors are showing women to be more and more multi-dimensional and self-serving, without portraying them to be all-out vamps! The story is quite original and the twist in the end is probably one of the best climaxes I have seen in recent times! The sets look very real, its hard to believe that everything was recreated in Mumbai! Cause, I have been to that godforsaken place called, Gorakhpur, and the film has recreated the town exactly like it is! The movie is very entertaining, yet clearly made for an audience which appreciates quality! Its a must watch!
