Shiv Sena now attacks Maharashtra governor.

The Shiv Sena has now trained its guns on Maharashtra Governor K. Sankaranarayanan for his 'Mumbai for all' remark. 'These rubber stamp white elephants' should not be 'sticking their noses anywhere', the party said.

In a sharp editorial in party mouthpiece 'Saamna' Saturday, the Shiv Sena said: 'Governors are in decorative but dangerous posts.'

'These rubber stamp white elephants have to be borne for years at taxpayers' expense. They should not be sticking their noses anywhere. What was the need for him to speak for outsiders?' it asked.

The party ire was directed at Sankaranarayanan's statements before a media gathering Friday that Mumbai was for all and anybody could come, live and work in the city.

Accusing the governor of 'treachery', the editorial claimed that the present sad state of Mumbai was only because of migrants.

'Governors live in the sprawling, luxurious Raj Bhavan on the shores of the Arabian Sea. They are cut off from the ground realities. Congressmen from outside the state come here on 'pension', enjoy the cool sea breeze and go away,' it said.

'Even Sankaranarayanan is here today and will go away tomorrow. So what was the need for him to invite migrants to Mumbai,' it said.

'If he is concerned about them (migrants), then he should take some of them to his home state Kerala and bag an award of national unity from Sonia Gandhi,' the party said.

'Would he have done the same thing if he was, say, governor of Karnataka or Tamil Nadu, and invited outsiders to Bengaluru or Chennai? Why something that does not work anywhere else should be thrust on Mumbai,' it demanded of Sankaranarayanan.

It further sought to know whether Mumbai was some kind of 'ashram or an orphanage' for migrants.

The editorial challenged the governor to get himself appointed in Jammu and Kashmir and invite people from all over India to come and settle there.

'We (Indians) are not allowed to work or live there though it is a part of India and nobody goes to save it (Kashmir) in the name of national integration,' it pointed out.

It asked the governor when the Constitution gives the right to people to come and settle anywhere, does it mean on footpaths, under bridges and grabbing any open space.

Alleging selective interpretation of constitutional rights, it said all rights come with responsibilities.

The party said if these migrants went and lived in the bungalows and flats of ministers, or even the Raj Bhavan, these very dignitaries would throw them out.

Stating that such statements did not suit him, it said there should be a permit system for outsiders entering Mumbai.

Last week, playback singer Asha Bhosale had expressed similar sentiments as the governor, in Pune, while Bollywood actor Nana Patekar had said he was pained by the controversy over Maharashtrians and non-Maharashtrians.

In the recent past, cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar and industrialist Mukesh Ambani have been at the receiving end of Shiv Sena ire for their comments supporting the idea of residents of other states settling in Mumbai.

The way I see it, Shiv Sena is not totally wrong in their thought process. Migration should be controlled. I'm especially against influx of blue collared workers or labourers, as in my opinion they don't contribute to progress and on the contrary have a negative impact on the progress of a region. If anyone gains from it, then it is some already rich people.

Let's say there is a Marathi person who has some basic education and is qualified only for some job as a labourer in a factory.
Being a Marathi residing in Maharashtra, he will have the following things:
1. Atleast a small home
2. A family
3. Atleast some respect in his community

Given the above, the Marathi person will expect to earn an amount which will atleast cover the following basic necessities:
1. Maintenance of his home
2. Feeding his family and buying them clothes
3. A level of lifestyle which matches his standing in the society
4. Education for his child
5. Partaking in community festivals (i.e. a touch of luxury)
6. Some extra amount which he can save for a better tomorrow

Now a similarly qualified guy comes from another place. He will have only one thing:
1. Family (and that too not always)

He will expect to earn enough to cover only one thing:
1. Food for his family and that too just bare minimum

He will live on the pavement or in some slum. If he is alone, most probably he will rent a bed on which he can sleep for 8 hrs. So, no maintenance of home required.
He won't have any respect in the community to think about, so he won't be too bothered about how his behaviour or lifestyle affects his image. This is exactly why migrants get into crime more easily.
Won't bother to send his child to school.
Participating in community festivals is a far fetched idea.
Saving money for tomorrow only figures in the agenda when you've enough to eat.

Let's say the Marathi person will expect to be paid Rs.100 a day. The other person will be ready to do the exact same work for Rs.25.

Neither of them will benefit from this situation. The Marathi person won't get a job and will most probably end up on the pavement, give up all expectations and start working for Rs.25 and this will give rise to anger towards the migrants. Whereas the migrant worker started from the pavement and will remain on the pavement. The benefit of the Rs.75 saved will go to some fat rich person who runs the factory.

I don't feel the above scenario is an ideal one. The only way this can be controlled is when every place in India rigorously enforces the minimum salary. Of course based on cost of living the earnings will vary and a person living in Mumbai will earn more than a person living in Samastipur to cover the higher cost of living in a metro city. But the focus should be on the fact that after spending on the basic necessities of life, if the person living in Mumbai is saving Rs.10, then the person living in Samastipur should be able to save the same amount of money. If that happens, most people won't think about migrating.

Haha, I think before blaming Australia, they should resolve this problem before. I thought India was a free country with freedom to go anywhere we want to. Oh well, I guess SS wants to build a new country in Mumbai.👎🏼 Just see, BT and Co will be the only ones carry a Mumbai passport, I tell ya.😆 Now I don't think Aussies are doing anything worng. If there is internal conflict within this country itself, how can we blame them for racism?
@ 'migrants': ROFL🤣🤣SS is the funninest s**t I've ever seen
