Jyoti is reluctant to talk to her visitors, but after some cajoling by Neelam's mom, lets them in. Neelam's mom explains to her that her daughter's first engagement was disrupted by Jyoti's sister, and now, this one was in danger of being disrupted by Jyoti. They explain their predicament to her, and point out that Neelam was not responsible for Pankaj & Jyoti breaking up. Jyoti promises to consider this while considering her decision.
Neelam's father points out to her that there is no shame in taking alimony - in fact, there's a good reason the law allows for it. He says that in addition to the Rs 1 crore that Bhairavi's offered her, he's willing to offer her another. He then pauses and sees that the entire family has returned, and is looking at him. He tells Jyoti that as an elder, he knows that money isn't everything, but it's a major factor in reducing much of the pain and hardships that exist. He tells Jyoti to call them if she reconsiders her decision. They then leave.
Poonam is very excited to hear this, and goes to tell Jyoti that she should immediately accept this money. Everyone is shocked at her suggestion. Sushma says that if it were Poonam, she'd have taken this by now. This leads to an escalation b/w Poonam and Sushma, where Sushma confronts Poonam on what she said about her @ the function. Poonam tells her that if she has no rights as the bahu, what is a married woman like Sushma doing in her maayka? Poonam then says there is no place for her in this house, and goes in to pack her bags.
Padma scolds Sushi, and sends Jyoti to stop Poonam. Jyoti goes in and explains to Poonam that as bahu, it's not just her right to share the happiness of the family, but also her duty to handle its responsibilities. She asks Poonam whether she had ever let Sushma close to her, and if she didn't, that's the reason for their fight. Deepu comes in and overhears this, and Poonam protests that there is no place for her in this house, and that she's leaving. Jyoti tells her that it's ultimately her decision, but just as she taunted Sushma for living in her maayka, even though the circumstances were different, if Poonam were to return, she'd be subject to the same taunts.
That doesn't stop Poonam and she still is about to storm out, when Padma stops her, and convinces her that she's totally on her side. Poonam relents.
That night, in bed, Sushma is lying in bed, agonizing over what Poonam said about her @ the function, as well as @ home. She gets up and is in tears. Dadi gets up and consoles her, telling her that any grief she contains is going to affect her baby as well. Sushma hugs Dadi & goes to bed.
In her room, Jyoti is not feeling well, and takes her temparature, and sees that it's 102F. She is shocked, since tomorrow is her appointment on her new job. She is determined not to fall sick.
The next day, while she's getting ready to leave, Padma reminds her about the honeymoon, and Jyoti tells her it'll take a while. She then sits down and is all set to go, and Dadi asks her where. Dadi then touches her and tells her that given her temparature, she's not going anywhere. KK decides to call Bhagya-dada, but Jyoti tells him it's for an interview for a 2nd job, and since the interviewer will be out for the next 15 days, she has to go today, and doesn't want to lose that opportunity to anyone. She then leaves.
Padma returns w/ the tea, and KK confronts her on not caring about Jyoti @ all, such that she had to leave w/ a high temparature in search of a new job. Padma asks him who asked her to take a 2nd job, and KK asks her where did she think the honeymoon and geyser would be paid for? From those crores? Padma says that this is Jyoti's and KK's problem - they are too dead set on their ideals, such that even if the law allows for something like alimony, it's good enough for everybody else but them. She tells KK that Poonam was right, and that had Jyoti accepted that deal, it would have solved all those problems, but noooo!!! She has to live by those perfect ideals, which sound very good, but are worthless in the real world.
KK tries to interrupt, but Padma tells him that she is in no mood to hear his grand lectures on philosophy, and asks him why he hasn't accused her of milking her step-daughter? She asks KK that if Jyoti is so good, why did she lie to Pankaj about the #sisters she had? In response to KK's attempt, she says that anything Jyoti does wrong is just the fault of the situation, not hers. Poonam is behind a door and overhears this, and figures out that Jyoti is Deepu's step-sister, not his own. The episode ends.
A fantastic action packed episode. I originally thought that Neelam's parents were out to abduct Jyoti, but they left just trying to bribe her. I wonder why Jyoti couldn't tell them politely what she told Bhairavi very firmly - that she wasn't going to lie to save anything.
I liked the catfight - will comment more on it later in its thread. As one of the posters pointed out, Poonam mentioned to Sushma that she was stuck in her maayka, and threatened to leave. It's amazing the contrast b/w Poonam and the Sharma doormats - Sushma & Jyoti did everything to avoid having to leave, whereas Poonam threatens @ the drop of a hat. One thing for sure - Padma has found an invaluable ally in Poonam, where previously she was isolated since the reformation of Sushma.
One more thing, Jyoti can take that extra job to pay off those loans, but why doesn't she firmly put her foot down and say no on both the geyser and the honeymoon? Let Deepu pay for both. And if it's so unaffordable, let Poonam's dad foot that bill. After all, thinking about the Sharma izzat is now Poonam's responsibility, not Jyoti's.
