I agree...it seems like janta likes b-boying, hip-hop, or contemporary more.

I myself like those styles 😳

I think that yes people do connect better to hip hop etc.... i dont know its hard to explain but i guess the style to me reminds me of prabhu deva and his dances, like i know they are not the same but my mind connects the two together whereas contemporary is still an alien concept. Like contemporary looks nice and everything but still i wouldnt see the finer nuances in it or the difficulty of the steps. also i feel a lot of the older generation population would find it even harder to understand contemporary and they might think what is this person doing, jumping from place to place and mostly giving expressions. now i know that contemporary shouldnt be defined in those terms but thats how a lot of people would see it as. however they are both good forms of dance.

I think out of all, i like hip-hop/b-boying or contemporary.

When i think of contemporary, i think of Shakti's performances...and i think of Jack's performances. I love that style!

Also Lyrical hip-hop...AMAZING!

I think i connect more to hip-hop cause its new & i see it mostly here on US.
So i can connect with it since its a western thing =]

I also like the lovey-dovey romantic performances...i guess that'll be bollywood. Like Binny-Kishore on Saathiya...and the Shashank-Tashu performance last week.

@ Jess, you never know it could be because of the US factor but even in india it is becoming very common now, like all these music videos and stuff, ofcourse a lopt of it is amateur in the music videos but it still gets people used to that form of dance.
I think as long as a dance form is done flawlessly and shows a certain level of difficulty it should be appreciated. I really like bollywood acts too, especially when they do all that aerial stuff hehe.... paso doble was good too, from what i saw last week.

Hip-hop b-boying and their likes are packed with energy and pumps your adrenaline. It gives you a "feels good" kinda feeling. i guess more like a "high on" feeling, imo. So, public connect with these especially the younger crowd.
Whereas contemporary is all technical stuff. It requires a good dancer to understand the technicality of contemporary dances else you lose the connection. Like Sahana said, even the older generation can't get it.

Bollywood on the other hand manages to impress people irrespective of their ages. From a child to a buddhi, its equally enjoyed by all, imho.

I must admit i like hip-hop, b-boying as much as i like Bharathnatyam and its likes.

@ sahana, you totally made me laugh when u described how the older generation talks abt contemporary dancing, becoz my dad says the same things🤣🤣
he totally doesn't understand what theyr'e doing on stage....😆😆
but personally, I like hip hop more,...i think its more energetic, more fun,
I think salsa is fun too !!!
sometimes even I dont understand the whole concept of contemporary dancing that well, honestly...but when these guys do it...it looks very nice. i guess u have to learn it to understand it well.....
Like if I have to pick someone to see their dancing..for ex between a hip hopper & a contemporary dancer..i'll go for the hip hop.
so I kinda do understand why ppl like hip hop & b-boying...its just looks like more fun & very challenging...not to say that the other one does not.....i just dont have enuff knowledge abt it to comment on it.

@QRST... lol thats because all the older members of my family see it like that, sometimes when we are watching a contemporary performance and i say omg, that person is dancing so well, they will agree with me just so they dont look like the odd one out, but i can fully see on their face that they are clueless as to whats going on in the dance hehe 😆.... in fact until i saw the last season of did, even i would think the same about contemporary 😳 simply because it was a new dance form that i didnt know about. I like contemporary dance just fine, its just that i feel i dont appreciate it as much right now because i dont know all the finer points of that dance
