Prithvi returned late in the evening from office. Silently and frightened, he entered his room wishing all the while for Damini not to be there or be in a good mood. For a second he could not believe that he was entering like a thief in his room, this had been Sameer's habit when he used to return late home at night after a party or hang out with friends. But he had been working then why was he so afraid, after all Damini could understand that work was important too.

Damini was sleeping or at least pretending to be when he entered the room. He smiled a sigh of relief and went inside the washroom for a shower, he did not dare make any sound afraid that she would wake up and he would have it from her. As soon as he was inside, Damini sat upright still fuming. This was the 3^rd time the week that he had reached home late. She understood that work was important but was it more than her? More than their spending time together? But Prithvi did not seem to understand this and she had decided to teach him a lesson for the same, a lesson he would never forget.

Prithvi came out of the washroom and got into the bed, he was really tired after today's work and he didn't have the energy to even serve food for himself. Deciding to have midnight dinner later on, he drifted off to sleep. When he woke up, it was 12:30 in the night and he was not getting any sleep. Partly it was due to the empty stomach and partly due to the fact that he had tried to pull Damini towards him thrice but she always twisted out of his grip. Feeling hungry, he stepped out of the room, hoping to find something downstairs. Damini smiled again and followed him.

Prithvi tried searching the kitchen but to no avail, unknown to him Damini had cleaned the fridge so he wouldn't find anything to eat. He sighed unhappily walked towards the garden out of the house hoping that some fresh air would do him good. He tried closing his eyes and relaxing a bit but to no good. Damini was now enjoying his discomfort to every extent. Prithvi stood up again, and assembled his clothes and checked himself. He slowly walked towards the gate unaware that Damini was following him. He walked on the roadside hoping to find a stall somewhere but even after a long walk he couldn't find one. He was tired again after all this and sat down on a nearby bench. He had just begun to relax a bit when the rain started pouring down. He looked heavenwards angrily and then lowered his head unhappily. But suddenly the rain seemed to stop and he looked up again to find Damini standing with an umbrella over his head and smiling at him. He started off to a question but she stopped him and pointed towards something. He looked in the direction to find a stall nearby which he had probably missed because of his tiredness "you have not eaten since the morning Prithvi" she scolded him as she dragged him like a child. She bought chaat for him and handed him the plate, he looked at her and then at the plate "eat" she commanded again. But instead of eating the first bite himself, he directed it towards her "you haven't eaten either". She stared at him with a 'how'd you know' look before taking it. The wind started blowing furiously and she was finding it hard to hold the umbrella.

Prithvi bought another plate and directed her to take shelter under the bus stand nearby. They sat down there and fed each other with the music of the rain and wind humming in the surroundings. "Prithvi, you should learn to take care of yourself too otherwise how will you work if you starve like this" Damini started but his soft sorry stopped her "Damini I wanted to come home early and spend time with you but I had to finish the file today itself" he held his ears. She smiled at his innocence and then mouthed a sorry herself "I cleaned the kitchen of all the food" she replied. "I know; that you were very angry with me but you didn't have to starve yourself for punishing me but you know you could have at least eaten something yourself", "then how would I have known that when you got up and came outside the house looking for food" she retorted back. "Hmmm and how would you have enjoyed this midnight dinner with me in private" Prithvi added naughtily and she blushed hard.

They stood up and then started walking towards the house, Damini still holding the umbrella. But one furious blow of the wind and the umbrella flew up high dousing them in the cold shower. They started running towards the house and Damini slipped but Prithvi saved her from falling in the nick of time. They looked into each other's eyes and got lost. They didn't notice that the rain had stopped pouring until another cool breeze made Damini shiver a little. Prithvi steadied her and then they started walking again. Prithvi held her hand and kept her close to him so that she wouldn't feel cold and Damini found this the perfect opportunity to be with him so she walked a little slowly. When they reached the house it was still 2 o' clock and everyone was fast asleep. They sneaked up to their room and quickly changed clothes to avoid catching cold. Prithvi finally got his proper night sleep hugging Damini promising himself to never come late again and Damini lay her head happily on his chest for having finally gotten her way and spend time with him.

The next morning came quite early and it being a Sunday none of them got up. It was 9 am when finally Damini opened her eyes. Prithvi was still sleeping peacefully with his hands wrapped around her waist gently yet possessively. She smiled and gave a peck on his either cheeks. He smiled an innocent smile in his sleep and his grip tightened around her spontaneously. She continued kissing his cheeks until he finally opened his eyes.

Prithvi frowned a little and then turned sideways hugging her even more tightly and closed his eyes. She kissed his eyes and he frowned again shaking his head. "Let me sleep" he grumbled half sleepily. "If only you would give me a kiss" she replied full confident that he would deny. And surely his eyes fluttered open in shock "give me a what?" he freaked. "A kiss" she replied calmly. Prithvi was lost in thought for a second but then he gripped her tightly again "anything for a good sleep" it was now Damini's turn to get shocked, she had never thought that he being an unromantic and shy person would actually agree. But before she could say or do anything he gave her a short kiss which she could not help but return. After this short stunt of his, Prithvi smiled naughtily and gave a "never mess with a sleeping person" look at her before drifting off to another peaceful sleep still not letting go of her. Damini was still blushing hard but then feeling contented after having made up for the time he had spent at work this week she smiled again and snuggled closer to him for some more sleep.
