I'd say classical. Maybe I'm a tab bit biased because I've learnt it as a kid myself, but the bias aside, I'd still go for classical anyday. It's the most graceful, expressive, elegant, yet sensuous form of dance. My guru
ji once told me that if you learn
any form of classical dance, other dance styles come to you easily. And trust me he was right. What classical basically does is get all your body parts in sync with each other, which is required for any style.
DID is more contemporary/bollywood oriented, and these forms have been exploited in every way possible. They've not really covered classical that well, so when we say 'classical', the only way we can think of is it's purest form. Classical is a great form to try fusion in, it comes out beautifully. And not just Kathak-Bharatnatyam, Orissi-Kathak etc, western styles can be blended with Indian too. I once went to see this show in which they had infused Kathak and Flamenco together.
I think DID should try out more experiments with classical dance. I particularly expect Geeta to mix and match classical styles and come up with something different :)
