Of Lucknow, but not from Lucknow
She plays a Lucknow girl but has been to the city all of two times. "I was here once earlier to promote the serial," says Puja Gor, who plays the eponymous character in Pratigya on Star Plus, in Lucknow on Friday to lead a human chain upholding the fight against atrocities on women. The story of the serial is based in Lucknow and some eastern UP towns like Allahabad and is about a girl who chooses not to buckle under pressure and gives a brave resistance to a tyrant who torments her. "I am familiar with the Lakhnavi culture, thanks to friends from this city," said Gor, an Ahmedabad native, who shifted base to Mumbai after her television foray. She loved the Charbagh building, but wasn't lucky enough to check out the Imam Baras.
"Ekta Kapoor saw my pictures on Facebook and invited me to Mumbai. I got my break as Purvi, the second lead in Kitani Mohabbat Hai. Including Koi Aane Ko Hai, Pratigya is my third show."
