Ohh athanni means 50 paisa and chawanni means 25 paisa - thats the literal meaning, but they might be meaning something else as well figuratively, cause athanni-chavanni is used for small, useless, mindless, stupid, all sorts of things in tapori language.

There are some games, that are also called athanni-chavanni.

In Hindi 'Chavanni' stands for 4 annas, and 'Athaani' for 8 annas.

1 Rupee = 100 Paisa
1 Rupee = 16 Anna and 4 Paisa (in old calculation)
1 Anna = 6 Paisa
Chavanni = 4 anna = 24 paisa

Chavanni means , chaar in Hindi. meaning 4.

But it counted as 25 paisa with the remaining 4 paisa in a rupee

Athaani means aath in Hindi, meaning 8

In colloquial local spoken dialect of hindi in Mumbai,
it used to mean a very small thing of negligible importance. Chavani / Athaani could also mean chote aukkad ka aadmi ya aurat.....
