Doop .. Thanks for your perspective. And yes .. such discussion do make us think about things a lot more .. and from different perspectives. But still .. bottomline is, we will believe what we want to believe. Nothing more .. nothing less.
I am not so sure about that. I think the nature of a healthy discussion is not only about what we give to it but also what we take from it. For example, before I read your earlier post, I was also thoroughly disappointed in him for the lack of any reference to CS but you made a valid point about why it wasn't necessary and I was able to then see that I was being unfair in wanting a reference to CS and did acknowledge it in my previous post.I still believe .. this interview was about YPNHK and not about GK the actor. I don't only believe it .. I'm pretty sure it is just that. Simply .. coz editors & interviewers have something like a set format when it comes to such interviews. When I was with TellyBuzz .. and we had to come up with questions for stars .. we were specifically told to have so many questions relating to the show and 1-2 personal questions. Here is another example : Chandana's interview soon after LNMDJ was launched. Most of the questions were related to the show .. one about her past work (since she was returning to television after long .. the question asked ended up about her association with PETA) .. and the last question about her personal life!@ bold: Yeah that's understandable and more straightforward since she was only working in Love at that point so natural to aim questions at her 'current' show rather than her past shows. But with G.K , he's working on 2 shows at the moment (love ne hasn't gone off air yet) and there was a clear reference to both shows in his interview. It wasn't as if he wasn't given an opportunity to talk about Love ne. If they hadn't questioned him about Love ne, then that's understandable but when there is a clear reference to the show and his thoughts about it, why not give it some credit? Rather than saying I am cool with it ending and I will miss the cast and crew - a bit too clinical, I felt but as someone else said, you've got to move on in this industry. Sentiments won't earn you money. Also .. if I may say so .. stars are sometimes asked by the interviewer to keep their answers to the point. It may sound like I am head on defending GK's every move and all that he says .. but having been with TB for a while, I did learn a bit about how things work when an interview is taken. What Prithvi Saxena did to Gaurav .. who decides that? Does an actor himself decide what is the role of a lifetime for him .. or do we fans decide? SRK needed a Baazigar .. I agree .. but then, maybe only die-hard Baazigar fans decide that. For all we know .. DDLJ fans will consider DDLJ as the role of a lifetime for SRK! And SRK may think of some other film!I beg to differ here . Literature, published work and biographies on SRK all acknowledge that Baazigar gave him a platform that none of his earlier work had given him. People became aware of a Shah Rukh Khan and he truly arrived on the scene with that movie. DDLJ, KKHH etc were all famous roles but Baazigar was the platform and I think that is the general consenses going by the majority of published work/study on SRK's career. I was only trying to give an example. YPNHK may go onto be G.K's DDLJ but Love ne I felt was definitely his Baazigar. It was different to everything he'd done in the past and was a refreshing change. It is subjective though and only an well conducted opinion poll can give us the real answer to the question. Likewise .. we may say Prithvi .. but who knows, GK considers Sharman as a role closest to his heart coz he is very similar to Sharman! (This reference to Sharman is just for discussion sake .. am not saying Sharman is his the role of his lifetime). If Baazigar was the beginning for SRK .. then in GK's case .. it is definitely Kumkum! Like you said .. its healthy to acknowledge one's past work .. I totally agree on that! But one doesn't really do it in every single interview! But Love ne is not his past work. Not as yet. He is still shooting for the show. Just coz he didn't mention it in one interview eIt wasn't the fact that he didn't mention it. It was the lack of credit for the show when he was directly asked about his feelings for the show. .. doesn't mean he does not think of Prithvi any less. Definitely not. G.K doesn't come across as someone who wouldn't give credit for his work which is why the reply to the reporter's question was slightly disappointing. Every actor only gains from whatever role he does .. and they do realise that!About his fanpage on India-Forums .. the entire fan page system (for most stars) was created only in mid-2009! I thought so too (although thought it was there from February) which is why I'd asked the question. IF didn't have fan pages before this! So it was natural na .. that all LNMDJ fans joined it .. and some more fans from his previous shows (who have probably now moved onto other actors) also joined in! The first comments on Husein's fanpage was posted around July 2009 .. whereas Husein has been in the industry for about 12 years now!!! As for fanbase .. when GK moved from Santaan & Jeevan Saathi to LNMDJ .. his fan-following increased. Would you believe it when I say that YPNHK is doing that for him right now Absolutely. Why wouldn't I believe it? He is very charming in that role as Abheer. I hope my previous post didn't come across as a LNMDJ vs YPNHK discussion. I was merely querying the lack of enthusiasm for a character which in my opinion made a huge difference to his career -on a higher level than any of his previous characters. .. and adding onto his success .. just like LNMDJ did post Jeevan Saathi? Many YPNHK fans have not seen him as Prithvi (or Sharman or Neil) Really? The majority of YPNHK fans haven't seen him as Prithvi? Would be interesting to do a quick poll in the forum to get a feel for numbers.😊 .. and think Abeer is his best! They are possibly correct. It could be his best but I think Prithvi Saxena had a lot to do in fetching him that role. Just like what Baazigar had to with DDLJ etc. Like I said, once in a way a role comes an actor's way that changes their career for the better and I feel Prithvi did that to G.K. 😊 I think .. most of the time, we fans are the ones who attach "best" to any one of the roles they do .. simply coz we love that character. But an actor does not really think of all that so much, coz they put in equal amount of hardwork and dedication in all their roles. Yes, I guess different actors work differently. It's a subjective world. As for GK doing 2 shows together .. he has always done that! No surprises there .. really! It may not be healthy .. but thats the way he loves to work! And we can't grudge him that .. after all, rozi roti ka sawaal hai 😛 No grudges. Just suggesting that the quality of work will be better if he focuses on one show especially when he plays the lead male in both. This is the first time he is playing the lead in two parallel shows if I am correct? It wouldn't be entirely wrong to say that Love ne did suffer (body doubles etc) when he took on the other. And lol .. I think we need to stop saying "hope my post did not offend anyone" 😆 Mine didn't offend you or anyone .. and ofcourse, your post did not offend me. But guess .. when I say it, I only do so coz I know my perspective is in the minority. And the last thing I would want is to hurt anyone. So pehle se hi .. Sorry kehna toh banta hai 😳 No sorrys then Eksie, 😳 I love a good debate. Lot of fun and up for a discussion any time. You learn something new everyday. Different opinions make for a good discussion. How boring will the world be if everyone agreed on everything in life 😊 Anyway, the length of my replies may give a false impression as to how much this interview has 'affected' me.Honeslty, he has his reasons for the answers and this may well be to do with the editing. But only wanted to indulge because it makes a nice topic for discussion. Like I said, nothing against YPNHK (which I hope to start watching soon) only hte lack of credit for Prithvi urged me to post on here.
