There aren't many surprises in this result. India still continues to be one of most corrupt nations in the world. Validating the statement is the Transparency International which has mentioned this fact in its annual corruption perceptions. The high public sector corruption in the country has earned it the 84th rank in the list that no country wishes to be featured in – the list of 'World's most corrupt nations'. An integrity score of 3.4/10 indicates that the country is still far from the status of a corruption-free nation.
Transparency International has also made a mention of the banking systems in Switzerland and Liechtenstein which contribute to the increase in corruption around the globe. "Corrupt cash must not find secure haven. It is time to put an end to secrecy in banking rules," said the Berlin-based group's Head Huguette Labelle.
Among India's neighbors, China scored 3.6/10 in integrity ratings, Nepal had the 143rd rank, and Sri Lanka scored 3.1/10 to take up rank number 97. Pakistan had an integrity score of 2.4 and ranked 139th sharing space with Bangladesh. The lowest point of the list was taken up by Somalia, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Sudan and Iraq.
The worst scores can look up to New Zealand, Denmark and Singapore which have been listed among the least corrupt nations.
