Jyoti wakes up next morning, and after her bath, is doing her hair. Suddenly, she notices the ring that she is wearing, which Pankaj had first put on her. She takes it off and looks @ it closely, probably reminiscing about Pankaj.
At Pankaj's, he is about to put on a similar ring on Neelam, but while he is about to do it, the ring falls. Everybody is looking @ the scene, and Pankaj has no ring to put on Neelam. CM picks it up & gives it to him, assuring him that all is okay, but everyone else looks dismayed. Pankaj recalls Jyoti telling her that as long as he wants her, she'll always wear that ring, and Pankaj tells her that she'll have to then wear it throughout her life, since he's never going to want her less. The scene switches back to Jyoti remembering the same thing.
In the other room, KK asks Padma why are they giving all these gifts, and Padma asks why not? Until today, they had only just received gifts, never given, and they never got to invite anybody for any of their daughter's marriages. KK asks her whether she realizes how hard it was for Jyoti to procure that money, and Padma asks 'and so'? Jyoti is on her own initiative doing it for her bro, and KK has no idea of what people outside are saying. She tells him plainly that she doesn't want them or Deepu to be embarrassed in front of strangers. KK tells her that she's only giving the gifts to satisfy her ego, and no other reason.
They are interrupted by Sushma calling them, and they go and the AC has been delivered. Both Padma & Dadi are happy to see it. A neighbor comes in and asks if this was a part of the dowry, and Padma says that they're not taking any, and that this was something they bought. She says that their bahu is from a rich family, and is used to it, which is why they've bought it. The neighbor invites Padma to their house sometime.
Jyoti walks in, calling Deepu, and tells him that she won't be giving him the scooty. Deepu protests that he's been driving it fine, but Jyoti tells him that it looks more for girls. Deepu disagrees, and Jyoti tells him to get himself a motorcycle. Deepu tells him that the downpayment is high, but Jyoti tells him to book it, and that she'd take care of the rest. Deepu is excited and thanks her.
The phone rings, and Jyoti answers it. It's Poonam. Jyoti tells her that Sandeep has just stepped out, and asks if Poonam had a message? Poonam asks what is Sandeep's fav color, and Jyoti asks whether it's for any clothes of his? Poonam explains that her father wants to buy Sandeep a car, and explains that after seeing Sandeep take her on a scooter, he thought it's unsafe for him to ride a scooter or motor-cycle, and therefore wants Sandeep to drive a car 😆😆 Jyoti is embarrassed to hear that, but tells Poonam that Deepu's fav color is red, so to try and pick another color. Poonam agrees to ask. After the conversation, Deepu enters the room and notes that he has forgotten his phone. Jyoti tells him that he needn't buy a bike, since he'll be getting a car from his FIL. He is pretty excited to hear that, and tells Jyoti how it was a dream of his. Jyoti smiles to herself as Deepu goes to get his phone.
That night, @ the Vashisth mansion, Pankaj enters his room and accidentally kicks some clothes. Longshree is working there, and she tells him that CM has asked to get rid of Jyoti's clothes. Pankaj asks why, and Longshree tells her that these are to either go to some poor women, or to an orphanage. Pankaj thinks for a minute, and then tells Longshree that there's no need for her to give it to anyone. Pankaj tells Longshree to put everything in the store-room. Longshree is happy and agrees.
Next morning, Sudha is @ the Sharma house, w/ Sushma. Padma notes the bangles Sudha is wearing & suggests that Sushma wears such bangles @ the wedding. Sushma looks horrified. Padma reassures her and suggests that she wear fakes. Sudha offers to lend hers, and take it back after the wedding, but Padma & Sushma refuse on the grounds that it belongs to her sasural. Finally, Padma allows Sushma to take it.
Padma then asks Sudha whether she's coming to the wedding? Sudha looks shocked, and tells her that while she can't say, she'll ask Uday. She asks about Jyoti, but Padma tells her Jyoti has been out since morning. Sudha says that she simply wanted to meet her, that's all. However, she can't wait indefinitely - she too has to get back home and prepare for Uday his meal. Sushma tells her that she'll find out when Jyoti is returning, and let her know.
Sudha then tells Padma that tomorrow is the engagement of Pankaj. Padma is shocked. She asks whether Jyoti knows, and Sudha says no. Padma asks her to suppress this from Jyoti, and Sudha is shocked @ how something this big can be kept from her. Padma explains that Jyoti has been very enthusiastically been working on Deepu's wedding, but if she gets to know of this, she'll be very hurt. She tells Sudha that they'll tell Jyoti about this after the marriage. Sushma comes back in and tells Sudha that Jyoti will be late in coming back. So Sudha decides to leave, and meet them another time.
The Sharmas are going through the invitations to be sent. Jyoti shows them the invitation cards and they get down to the job of writing the names of the guests. KK gives Jyoti the list and she goes through it. KK asks her if he's forgotten anyone, and Jyoti says that Sudha and her family are not there. Since they are the closest, their names should be first. Everybody is embarrassed, and Jyoti asks the reason. Padma tells her that after the way they treated her, what relationship do they have? Jyoti tells them that while one relationship is no doubt broken, one remains - Sudha is still their daughter, and the Vashisths are still her family. How do they just break ties, and if they don't invite Sudha, she'll feel really hurt. She thinks that they should invite the Vashisths. Deepu asks who'll go to their house w/ the invitation? Padma agrees, and says that after the way they've been insulted, they aren't going anywhere near their house. KK volunteers to go - in face of the happiness of his kids, he's willing to lay down his self-respect. Jyoti asks him how he'll go alone, and KK asks her if she'll come w/ him? Jyoti gets the flashback of Pankaj kicking her out, and the scene ends there.
KK & Jyoti are @ the Vashisth house, and KK tells MN that they are all invited to Sandeep's wedding. CM tells him that they are all free to go there, but not to have any contact w/ Jyoti.
In the first part of the episode, where they were dealing w/ issues like giving gifts, I saw Padma's POV somewhat, even though I agree w/ KK. Yesterday, on one hand, it was irresponsible of Padma to make Jyoti sink the family more into debt over 1 AC for Poonam. OTOH, I did think it was nice of her to want Poonam to not undergo a major downgrade after marriage, and considering how Padma always treated Jyoti & Sudha as step-kids, it's nice to know that she'd love Poonam as much as she loves Deepu, not just Sushma. Only thing is that ego is driving her as much, as the neighbor who invited her on seeing her buy an AC.
But while KK would be right in being annoyed @ Padma buying the AC, I wonder whether he'd crack down on Jyoti for being as irresponsible by asking Deepu to buy a motor-cycle. Well, since Mahesh-ji never got Poonam a 2 wheeler but only gave her keys to their car, by that logic, shouldn't Jyoti simply get Poonam a car? It's nice that the Sharmas aren't asking dowry, and are trying to do their best for Poonam, but sinking the family into debt in order to achieve this is ridiculous. Incidentally, I found the next conversation scene b/w Poonam and Jyoti rather funny. I liked Jyoti being embarrassed @ Poonam's father wanting to gift Deepu a car. Maybe she'll realize how it is when the shoe is on the other foot. Unlike Jyoti or Padma, who are being emotional in getting Poonam gifts even if it means incurring debt, Mahesh Trivedi apparently can afford to pay for it. On a different note, it was funny to hear Poonam talk about a car just after Jyoti has sent Deepu out to book a motor-cycle. Also, while Deepu may have been excited to know that he's getting a car, I wonder how KK will react, given that Jyoti never accepted anything from her sasural.
I was however 🤬 @ Padma for telling Sushma to wear a bracelet like Sudha's, knowing fully well that there was no way they could do it. I thought it needless for Sudha to offer Sushma her jewelry, given how it had got her into trouble w/ CM the last time - just 1 more avenue for her to get into more trouble. She'll lend something, and next thing she knows, CM will want her to wear that very thing @ the function. She should have just avoided that. I also thought it pretty shameless that Sudha went to invite her folks to Pankaj's engagement: unlike the time Neelam was to be engaged to Uday, this time, Neelam's engagement came @ the cost to Jyoti's marriage, and it would be completely insulting for the Sharmas to accept such an invitation.
I agree w/ Padma & KK for not inviting Sudha's family: while Jyoti was right that Sudha is still theirs, fact remained that Jyoti was the reason for friction b/w the 2, and also, the Sharmas had deceived the Vashisths considering only Jyoti's, but never Sudha's convenience. Also, Jyoti knows fully well that Sudha would get into trouble for wanting to be close to her maayka, particularly when there is another marriage in their family, not to mention that CM & Minal wouldn't mind raining on Deepu's parade. Hopefully, CM will make this easy by forcing Sudha & Uday to skip it, particularly if the 2 functions co-incide.
On KK's decision to go to their house, why did he ask Jyoti to take him there, instead of Sushma? He knows that any time Jyoti goes there, she'll be submitted to insults, so the proper way would be to go w/ Sushma.
Episode rating: 👍🏼👍🏼 A reasonably good episode.
