Linguistically, this entire serial is a blopper. Watching it, I sometimes think I'm watching a serial based in Multan, rather than Udaipur, given the heavy Urdu vocabulary that gets used. I did a reference on the language that is spoken inMewar, and this is what I got. Granted, that can't be the language of the serial, but at least, it can be in a Hindi close enough? Yet, listening to everybody in the show, and particularly sometimes, when MN refers to Gayatri as his 'begum' (hello, they are Hindus) or people referring to the divorce as 'talaq' (hello, again, they are Hindus, not Muslims, and talaq isn't merely an Urdu word, but a very specific Muslim term not applicable to Hindus), it seems that even the remotest effort hasn't been made to linguistically place the serial accurately.
Pani-puri instead of Gol-gappa is pretty mild by comparison.

I am from Udaipur - Pani Puri is the word we use, some families use begam with love for their wife, and of course - talaq - is the word used in hindus and families there..

so nothing in language, but I do not see Udaipur anywhere in the serial, so that is sad...

and cannot say that one family is that well known in Udaipur - pretty big city, they know by business not by family name... and people have enough to do other than gossiping which they were showing for Jyoti earlier.

Thanks for pointing this out. So is the language spoken by Jyoti, MN, Uday, et al similar to what's actually spoken in Udaipur? I mean heavily Urdu'ized?
Several episodes ago, when Brij asked Sushma to pay her his bribe @ Pratapgarh, did that area look like a part of the city? How about the temple where Uday & Sudha married - did that look like a part of Udaipur either?
Another question - do women in Mewar use their father's first name as middle name before marriage, and hubby's first name as middle name after marriage? The way Jyoti called herself Jyoti Pankaj Vashisth? That's the practice in Sneha Wagh's Maharashtra, and in Gujarat, but is it also the practice in Rajasthan?

the entire serial has been shot on the outskirts of mumbai in a place called vasai wich is not that developed as its basically a mix of rural and urban backgrounds so i guess u dnt see a bit of udaipur in the show coz shooting toh maharashtra mein hi hoti hai. but bcoz the show is based in udaipur they shuld show a few glimpses of the real udaipur.
