However, unlike Doston... , Dopeheadz doesn ' t give you a run-through of the different phases of a male student ' s life. It talks about issues like religious discrimination, that the group says are far more damaging than smoking.
However, the song, despite being " liked by the biggies of the music industry, hasn ' t got a nod from any music company for the album ' s release, " says Abdul Aziz, one of the lyricists and singers. He explains, " Whoever we approached, asked for changes in the lyrics, which I ' m not keen on doing. So we uploaded the video on the internet. " The song also features TV actors Eijaz Khan and Jassi Kaur.
Says Eijaz Khan, " I certainly don ' t advocate smoking, but neither do I have any reason to speak against it. If you hear the lyrics, you ' d realise what the key focus is on ' the real harm doesn ' t come from smoking but from the way people are used and incited by politicians. " But didn ' t he feel that being part of a song where the cross and a flag bearing a Swastika are burnt, would create a controversy? " I don ' t care, " he replies, " I don ' t think anybody has the right to judge me, besides God. " How about the lyrics, Mazhab Ya Mulk Ke Liye, Main Nahin Maroonga Yaar? " As an artiste, one ought to have the freedom of speech. If you don ' t like it, don ' t hear it, " he says.
Abdul reveals that racial discrimination is rampant in a place like Dubai too, where he comes from. " Brown skinned people are treated differently in Dubai too. A gora is paid more than an Indian. " Obviously, the song doesn ' t lack swear words. " We haven ' t used Hindi swear words for they don ' t go well with the song, " says Eijaz. Nimit, the other lyricist and singer, chips in, " It sounded good at that time, so we put swear words in. It ' s never been done before except for the infamous ' Khatam Nahi Hua Ch***** ' from Bombay Boys. Through the song, we ' re trying to establish that there really is no reason to spread terror, when you can just dum maaro dum! " As for the word ' sutta, ' Abdul says it was only used to " get people ' s attention. "
