From the DD1 days to colors.....so many things have changed.
From the simplicity to lavishness,
from casual to beyond imagination,
from uniqueness to unusual,
from family shows to more female audience oriented shows,
from love and togetherness to familial conflicts and hatred,
from one or two shows to countless shows,
from dramas to reality,
from death to comeback with plastic surgery
from miley sur to phir miley sur
and the list goes on....
No I am not against what has been happening ..its just the change which has come.
Yes there are few points which i really hate in the shows (specially ekta shows)like -: some has to kill some one, person guilty is roaming around free for good amount of time and then he is convicted...he comes back several times and people forgive them but same bad man drama begins....😲
love birds can (almost) never get together ...
shows like rahul/rakhi ka swaymvar ..😡
MIL is almost always bad
@ 1 point they are rich as hell and suddenly some 1 comes n they r on roads....n then they r rich again
etc etc..
but good points cannot be ignored ..
for e.g. baalika vadhu,female foeticide,marriage at gunpoint ,autism,friendship,color of a person(dark skinned girls getting rejected for marriage)historic events👏,
These topics have brought so much awareness among us people.....
Even dance reality shows , or indias got talent ,singing competitions, entertainment ki l k b k, shows that india has immense talent but lacks platform....but when given a chance can outnumber others..👏⭐️.

now even the little kids have to something to watch cartoon network,NK...👏

channels like discovery ,animal planet ,national geographic provide us with immense knowledge.....
its amazing how we can actually see how an anaconda looks like (jst an instance)👏⭐️

news channels have brought a revolution in media industry in past 10 years...
from kargil to 26/11 😕 or letting the whole country know about numerous scams ⭐️

and young gen has Mtv to watch....well its good in a way..but i like the old mtv where it was more songs not its more shows than music....😲

channels like aastha are really good for older gen, they dont have to go to other city or sit for several hours for listening to their favourite mahatma/baba/sant👏
its like tv industry has taken a 360 degree change .... well pros and cons are always a part of life....
but wonder what more has to be seen in 20-30 years from now...
ohhh good lord..

The Indian TV industry started in 1990's, with Ramayan. Now I was born in '94, but from what I've heard from my parents is that people use to flock around the TV to watch this epic. This was a hit and that boomed the DD industry. Cable came to our house in 1997. I have some fond memories of those times. From Saturday Suspense to Aahat to X-Zone to the Zee Horror Show....along with shows like Circus, Just Mohabbat, Ek Mahal Ho Sapano Ka etc. The saas babu thing wasn't there and the show were realistic and not overly dramatic. I have always had an inclination towards crime shows and have watching CID all along, from when I used to suck my thumb to when now, when I'm in the middle of my teens. It is not just a show for me, it is actually my life. I watch the old episodes with fond tears in my eyes of the times when my parents used to run after me persuading me to eat my food. But enough of me. I have seen the degredation of the TV industry, from riches to rags, which is really unfortunate. The saas-bahu epidemic has seized the nation and had bad effects on it. Why would people watch shows where the mother in law bitches on the daughter in law and all that crap. And people get attracted towards that junk.
Then came the reality shows. Initially they were entertaining, but now they've become a bunch of s**t, what with swaymvars and all that Big Boss. It is like toyong with people's minds. That is sad and shows that people actually have no life. But the musical reality shows like II, SRGMP etc. are good. They bring out the gems in India and shows them to the world.
Now crime and horror shows have been pretty good. Saturday Night Suspense, X-Zone, Avinash IPS, Krishna Arjun...some good shows. Unfortunately, the horror shows have failed to impress me. Aahat is such a joke. However, there have been good crime shows like Mr and Mrs Mishra and Monica Mogre, but the stupid channels have discontinued them, which pisses me off. Now the best shows in Indian TV is undoubtedly is CID, it's what Indian TV is basically made off. And now good shows like Powerr have come up too.
Overall, I'm disappointed with the way the TV industry is going down over the years.

money money money money money..

indian tv is just commercial .. making stupid shows for the mass population. i say that we make shows for intelligent ppl and let the mass population be bored. quality tv is more important than successful tv.

I know that it'll never happen, but I can keep dreaming :P

From the song 1985

When did reality become TV, whatever happened to sitcoms, game shows?

I remember the days of classic Indian television with shows like Malgudi days, Rajni, Karamchand etc. Then the era of Fauji then Dekh Bhai Dekh, Circus etc.

Then K happened. This one K is deadlier than the KKK. K took soap and washed the brains of viewers clean. Now they sit like zombies in front of the screen devouring mindless drivel. I think on and off there have been good shows and concepts. Unfortunately, zombies do not like good stuff, they like rotting corpses so even the good shows get contaminated with zombie food - like Jassi started strong and became just another soap, Aap Ki antara had good concept but is being pushed to be dramatic.

Xena: Warrior Princes = Best TV show of all times
Law & Order: SVU = Second Best TV show of all times
Friends = Third Best TV show of all times

India could do with some variety entertainment, some good sitcom, some good crime shows, some shows about mystery and supernatural, some good shows about ordinary people and lives

Xena was good, but Friends was awesome. I liked Home Improvement, Full House, That 70's Show. Current Good shows are 24, CSI, L&O: SVU, House, the Office. Wow, RTH ji, no offense, but you're old.
