Let me make this clear...Shakti is my favourite contestant this year and I'm penning her for the win...cause she's a strong dancer...but I'm totally getting irritated with the fact that show after show...she's doing contemporary...yes she's strong at it...but she needs to break out of that shell...else she'll suffer the same sort of backlash as Prince last year...it's kind of ironic that Terence complained about Prince last season yet he's doing the same thing this year....please Shakti! Don't give yourself the kiss of death...DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT!

yes we wud love to see somthing diff on Shakti, but Terrence has not just given pure contemporary all the time, it does look similar but there is a difference...infact it is ironic that Remo mentioned about how since season one they never give the contestants forte so they can excel...where infact he gave Prince LnP all the time and had it in all his dances...

I have been posting comments for so many similar threads! I dont want to do it again. I see no point in explaining to people who dont know much about the different dance forms, and the variations of contemporary... People should find out about different dance forms and also find out their similarities and differences...

What she did today is Urban style hip hop - it's quite common in Chicago and all, and looks like a fusion of hip-hop with freestyle... What she did with Kunwar/Amar earlier is Aerial dance - a totally different dance form. She did contemporary in three acts, but had a prop and lifts (done by her) in one, and then another prop and lack of view of partner - it would be hard to coordinate well without seeing what your partner is doing, but she and Parvez did a marvelous job. Her first act was pure contemporary, and then her solo was hip-hop.

Well...it's true that I don't know much about dance....I can't even tell the difference between the Jazz and the Contemporary in SYTYCD...lol...but I can tell this much that there seems to be a little variation between what she does...granted today may have been Hip Hop...but what I want to see from Shakti are styles that are TOTALLY different from what she did...week after week...her partner work always has a tinge of some emo contemporary...whereas Kruti has done all these other styles not the same as her own and will probably be bottom two because of it...whereas Shakti has been doing dances where they are akin to her style and play up her strengths...and I rewatched her dance today...since the first time it played I was trying to study...and yea I agree it is quasi Hip Hop...but I want the styles she dances in her partner work to vary like Kruti's...and my two cent's I don't count Aerial Dance as dance...it's acrobatics....totally different in my eyes...but thanks for responding I dont disagree with the fact that she dances different styles each time...but I want her next dance to be something new...not some other emo piece

well the general audience who is probably going to vote from next round onwards doesnt know much about dance... we cannot decry them

whatever the technicalities was, all i see is lifts and contemporary moves all along...

all of shakti's dances look the same to me ... and they shouldnt need to google everytime to understand the difference..it would be better if the difference comes across for ordinary viewers like me

Shakti has been doing different styles. I will admit though, they are of similar genres - Like Jitterbug and Lindy Hop - different genres but similar in origins and movements.

I can understand the criticism that she perhaps needs to breakaway into something absolutely different, diametrically opposite in pace, origins and movements. However, I find it rich when Remo says that masters try to take the dancer away from familiar genres - for he did not build Prince on just a genre, a genre has diversity in moves, he built Prince on one single type of move - LnP.

Anywho, whats better Jack of all trades, master of none - or achieving perfection. Shakti has achieved exemplary perfection in what she does. Every time she performs she still manages to entertain me fully. I agree versatility is very important, but seeing how disconnected some others have seemed with doing different genres, sometimes even their own forte - I feel that maybe everyone perfected what they can do into a mindblowing performance and then moved on.

I guess some people are Ok eating exquisite food everyday, even if the dish is always Chinese. But others would rather have Italian one day Mexican the next even if the lasagna is undercooked and the tacos have no seasoning.

THANK YOU! This is EXACTLY how I feel as well! I've loved Shakti since her auditions....but honestly week after week since the aerial act it's getting sooooooooo repetitve now that I'm honestly BORED during her acts now....same type of choreography, same type of dancing each time.....I'm no dance expert so I can't see whatever minute differences that are being claimed in her dancing styles each week.....as a layman, they all look the same to me.

Kruti on the other hand has impressed me more and more each week....be it her duo or trio acts or her solos for the dance ki kasauti....every time this girl has done something different and done it well!....from jazz to tango to classical to bollywood to bhojpuri salsa to hip-hop....you name it and this girl has shown variety. And what amazing expressions she gives in each performance!

Would it KILL Terrence to give Shakti another dance style to perform??? Given the amazing dancer she is, I think she'd do great in other styles...then why is she ALWAYS given contemporary-ish looking stuff or at the most some hip-hoppish moves like in her one and only solo.....why can't she do some salsa, tango type of dance as well??? Or something Indian?? Why not?

Shakti is a brilliant dancer but sadly in my eyes she's in a bit of a rut right now variety wise.....I can only hope she is given the chance to come out of it.

Yes, I love Shakti's style, performances, energy level , perfection , She is my favorite contestant - BUT I would also like to see something VERY different from her.......dance forms which does not revolve around contemporary at all........I am sure being a trained dancer she would do just great as always............I am looking forward to see her in different styles...........

I would love to see Shakti doing a different routine...she has been doing routines belonging to one or a similar genre.. i.e. sub-genres of a genre..as in, 1st episode's - ballet, aerial thing, the one with the prop yet contemporary..,then urban hip-hop..🤔 which come under contemporary for viewers..but actually doesn't..!! And I also felt(many ova here did) that a few bits of her performances repeated..😕

I think if she does a totally different routine..like a salsa or broadway or hip-hip or just classical..that would clearly distinguish itself from all her previous routines or "contemporary"..then,I guess it would do..everyone would be left thoroughly impressed..!! 'cos she's an amazing dancer..and I guess she can do every given routine..!! She's a fabulous dancer by far..and almost perfects every routine..with all the moves and all..😊

I just don't want her to do another emo piece....I think it's unfair to Kruti...that she's been doing something vastly different week after week...and gets shot down cause of it...whereas Shakti...has been doing something slightly (in comparison to Kruti) different....they all have the same sort of emo feel...and those dances require her to deviate from her style a bit slightly...I absolutely adore Shakti...but she needs to mix it up...do something that will just be...upbeat...not emo...and veer away from her style altogether...like Kruti does week after week...I won't blame this on her...she does what Terence tells her to do...so Terence...MIX IT UP
