I just love the Generation Y singers n actors...our generation rocks!!!(Those born between 1980-1995)
Singers: Shreya, Sunidhi- they ahve already achieved so much!!!!!!😊😊 Shreya is a legend in the making, if not alraedy one! I think her voice flows like a river and is sooo sweet and there is so much finnesse in her singing. Sunidhi is good at fast-paced songs and has lots of potential. I think they're already at par with Alka- Kavita etc.
Actors: Ranbir Kapoor is a very talented actor and in 2009 has excelled in all his 3 movies. he's so versatile already and a great actor, more versatile than many in the last generation! I always found SRK overrated(sorry😉) and I loveeeeeeee Aamir and Saif, but Ranbir has achieved more than what they did when they were young.
Among the actresses, Sonam and Deepika rock! of course Rani n Preity r my fvaes but Deepika n Sonam already have the X factor n good looks also, apart from acting, n good personality.
I just think my generation is great, and we rockkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😊😊
P.S.- this is a fun topic, n u r free to disagree!!!!!!

Well in defense of SRK all I can say is he had to struggle a lot in his initial days. He started from small screen and then took 70 mm by storm. But yes I think his hay days are over now.
Ranbir and Sonam come from well established families of Bollywood. So things were bit easy for them. Infact it was Rishi Kapoor who approached Sanjay Leela Bhansali to cast his son in Saawariya. And to be frank the only thing I loved in that movie was his acting. He is definitely the next rising superstar.
Shreya and Sunidhi too got great platforms in their tender age in the form of reality shows. And boy they are making the most of it now. Fabulous singers. However sometimes I feel Sunidhi is bit under-rated.

Yeah i definitely like Ranbir more than other actors of his generation like Shahid, Neil Nitin Mukesh though theya re also good esp. the latter. Sahid reminds me too muchof Sahh rukh and taht too a wannabe Shah Rukh.
But i really feel our generation will not try the old formulas. A movie like Dev D made by a dirctor of this generation, then Imtiaz ali's Love aaj kal proved it.
However the girls of Gen y may have a tough time trying to match upto Madhuri, Kajol, Rani- the last 3 superstars. i think after Rani there has been no more femnale superstrar. I think Deepika is the best repace, ment though she is too young now and looks all stick n bones. i think if she lets herself mellow a bit n tries not to be too perfect she can be the next IT girl. Or Sonam.
Shreya n Sunidhi show that our generation is best- we make our own rules😊😊

I agree about the singers.
Ranbir, of course, is brilliant. Ajab prem and Rocket Singh: such diverse characters and he was fanastic in both. Shahid is also very good. Outstanding in Kaminey.

I have to see Sonam in a proper role before saying anything about her acting. Promising in Delhi 6.
Deepika hasn't acted well in any of her movies so far, but looks stunning.
Kangana, I would say, is a lot better than both; and belongs to the same generation (1987).
Genelia is also good.

Yeah I agree with you about Kangana, she is a small town girl and very promising indeed. She is a very intense actor and brings a lot of passion into her acting. However I don't agree about Genelia, she is run of the mill and has a very irritating accent.

Kangana I see more in the Smita patil, Tabu kind of roles. I hope she finds her niche. For the next superstar i have laid my bets on either Deepika(1986 born) or Sonam(1985 born).

The topic is alsno about the singers, i msut say Shreya is already a legend. future genrations will talk about her in awed breath, the way we talk about Lata jee. Ranbir is very good, too and I predict he will be bigger than his father.

i think this is the hierarchy of great singers ( there might be some overlaps also like sonu came in both periods) :-

lata asha kishore rafi mukesh manna dey

alka kavita sanu ( statistics say he was ruler for quite sometime) udit

shreya sunidhi sonu shaan kk

the new gen are the rest , ppl like mohit chauhan , shilpa rao etc

among actors new ones -> ranbir , imran , neil are awesome and of course KANGANA is the best if her personal lifestyle does nt hamper her acting

Don't agree with u. Though Shreya and Sunidhi started singing early, they are not in the same generation as Shaan and Sonu. Generation is categorized according to age. As I said Gneration Y is 1980-1995 born. shreya is 1984 born and Sunidhi is 1983 born, so they definitely fall under Generation Y.

Whereas Mohit Chauhan falls into the previous generation. Even if he sings now, he doesn't fall into the new generation! shilpa Rao of course falls into this generation.

My point was to talk about the new generation of actors and singers, and how they are different from the last. I see a new vibrancya nd versatility and desire to break the rules with this generation.Especially with AMit Trivedi's music( Iktara and Dev D), actors like Ranbir, directors like Imtiaz Ali, Anurag Kashyap and the director of Khosla ka Ghosla.

After Shah Rukh and Rani, I think Ranbir and Deepiak would be the next superstars. superstars often may/may not ahve anything to do with acting. there is a mixture of many things. I prefer Knagana's acting to Deepika's but I don't think Knagan can be the next superstar.
