| John Abraham is not doing debutant director (and Farhan Akhtar's assistant) Reema Kagti's Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, which is being produced jointly by Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani.
Says John, who is right now in Gujarat, "Yes, there is an issue with dates. We have expressed our unavailability of dates. With Babul's schedule going haywire, I am adjusting my dates; the dates of other films, too, have been pushed back. Right now, my first and only priority is Babul." What happened?
Says Ritesh Sidhwani, "There was never any contractual commitment with John. He was never the lead actor, as the story consists of an ensemble cast of 12 actors, and John was one of those 12. John was never in the film to be out."
| | There was never any contractual commitment with John.... John was never in the film to be out — Ritesh Sidhwani | Is it true that the producers were upset because John had opted out at the last minute? "No. We are not upset, as nothing had been finalised. We were only in talks with John. As for opting out at the last moment, that's something you will have to ask John."
Ritesh is extremely enthusiastic about Honeymoon Travels. "It's a fantastic script and a fun film, with a unique storyline. Reema has written the story, script and screenplay. We are launching the film on March 8. It's Farhan and my first film with an outside director, after Zoya. We are so excited about it, we want to release it before Don." Final casting next week
It's been heard that many actors have already been signed for the project, some of who include Ameesha Patel, Shilpa Shetty, Minissha Lamba, Abhay Deol, Kay Kay Menon, Shabana Azmi, Ranveer Shourie, Sandhya Mridul and Boman Irani.
"Right now, we can't talk about the casting. We should finalise the entire cast by next week, which is when we will make a formal announcement," informs Riteish, who is currently busy with Don, directed by Farhan and starring Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and Om Puri. |
