Bauji's behavior was pretty unpalatable!! It was hard on Nupur!! I found it hard to sit through the scene - he was just so mean (can't find any other nicer word) - and I know I will never watch that particular scene again!!
However, I was just trying to think how a father would react! I think most fathers would be v.v.angry - bauji got publicly insulted, told that he was trying to palm off his "kaalik" on to the boy's house - told that no baraat would ever come to his house to be insulted like that - and that he should marry his daughter off to this ladka!!
We should remember that bauji has his second daughter to think of - so as not to create any public scandal he must have thought to himself - ok Nupur wants to marry Mayank - fine - let her do so - but she has to be punished for what she's done to the family - that he would perform a father's duty of kanyadaan and thus fulfill his responsibility and then he's done with Nupur. You could see through out the epi - he had this stern look on his face and he only smiled a little when Gunjan came to his side!!
I found that what Bauji did was a little premeditated - he asked Mayank to marry Nupur and told her kush raho - all along knowing that he was intending to break relations off with Nupur once the marriage had been completed! His attitude was that damage had been done to the family name - he needed to rectify what he could and move on - behavior which I found to be v.cold! He forgot - that Nupur begged him that she could not imagine life with anyone else but Mayank - but he refused to listen!!
At the moment the wound that Nupur has inflicted on her father is so fresh - that it would take time to heal - and I'm sure he'll mellow down over time. However till then he said some pretty mean things to Mayank - as if Adhiraj was financially independent and was not going to live off his father!!
I really hope the CVs give a good track to Mayur to allow them to prove - just because they married young does not mean that it is the end of the world and they can survive and come out stronger - and pyaar does not become "zeher" in such circumstances!!
