Savita was lured into getting Manav married to Archana by Manjusha, she had to witness her son being humiliated time and time again, y will she take in? Sulochana humiliated Manav in public view, so Savita did the same for Archana...wat should i say in this ego war of both the mothers its Archana-Manav's lives going for a toss...Really Karanjkars have dissappointed me...but was really happy tat Archana for once decided to take a stand👏...Pria
I agree with most of your post .........especially the part where Sulochana takes care not to hurt Manju's feelings but did not do the same with Manav and I hope Archu tells her that one day . Although many reasons can be advanced as to why Sulochana does it , I do agree with this part of your post .
However I strongly disagree with you saying that Savita is not wrong for her actions , that she is somewhat justified , that she was not the first one to start the fight . May I remind you that she indeed was the one who started this whole thing in the first place by LYING to Sulochana that Manav was an engineer . The contempt that Sulochana has today in her heart for the Deshmukhs , the uneasiness that she has in her heart about them was sowed right at that moment due to Savita's lies which she told ...........not for the 'bhalai ' of her son , but due to pure greed as she wanted the jewels that would come along with Archu .
Let us not get carried away and defend a monster like Savita here in a bid to defend Manav or criticise the Karanjkars for inadequate apologies . Savita indeed is a monster...........plain and simple . Her place shhould be behind bars , not in a home . There is a marked diffrerence between the slap Sulochana gave Manav and the horrendous character assasination that Savita did of Archu . The slap was a reaction to the immense pressure , uneasiness that she had been put through for 15 stormy days of her daughter's marraige where Sulochana had witnessed dowry demands , threats from Savita and all had been tolerated by her only coz 'the boy was good .' When even the police told her that Manav was in alliance with the pimp , that was the last straw and she snapped . It has to be noted here that Sulochana did NOT slap Manav only on Ajit;s word . Ajit cleverly involved the law on his side and that shocked her thoroughly .
But after that , she withdrew in cold dignified silence ..........she did not go around telling people in society that Manav was characterless . She told no one . She did NOT land up at Manav's garage and publicly humiliate him saying You characterless , how u did this to my daughter . She did not phone Satish inspite of having influence with him and tell him NOT to give the loan to Manav . She did NOT visit Girish and tell him I am your well wisher DO NOT MARRY your daughter in that family . BOth Rasika and Savita are perfectly capable of doing that and they indeed wud have . But Bhavna and Sulochana do not fall in this category ..........they r fundamentally decent women who will not stoop to this level . The slap by Sulochana was a reaction..........never a deliberate attempt to character assasinate Manav.
As against that .......Savita deliberately character assasinated Archu by standing on the road and telling all neighbours that she was a prostitute. Many have defended her actions as 'fighting back'. for her son.........but it was not for Manav that she did it , she did it for her ego when the chawl people taunted her that how come Savita the great fighter took so much flak from her bahu's maayka and shut up so wimpily .............shame on her etc etc . The chawl people , especially her arch enemy Laxmi jeered her because she had troubled them with her fights for a very long time and they enjoyed her discomfiture . Savita went and stood on the road and character assasinated Archu more for herself than Manav.
Where does she love Manav even one percent of how much Sulochana loves Archu ? Do we see her doing anything for Manav except using him or making him a sacpegoat for her selfish motives ? She steals from his pockets , sells him twice in the marraige market , was instrumental in starting the divorce by visiting the lawyer inspite of knowing Manav didnt want one. Sulochana who slapped Manav ........WAS NOT THE FIRST ONE TO INITIATE DIVORCE PROCEEDINGS . Also Sulochana did NOT accept Satish's proposal the moment it came to her doorstep . She was not moneyminded or greedy...........she later accepted it to settle Archana down when Manav signed on the divorce papers .
So let us not glorify Savita here on any account , she doesnt deserve it . What she did and is doing even now is nothing short of ABUSE . Varsha was the only one who had said that the police shhud be called when Savita did that roadside tamasha........and she was damn right . Savita landed in the lock up very late..........she shud have landed there much , much earlier . The women's rights association shud swoop down on her and ask chawl people to boycott her . Even what Manju said was right ..........that Abuse is not just physical , it is mental too . This awareness as a woman Archana didnt have as frankly she was DUMB with outdated and stupid ideas about 'serving' her husbands family . She is yet to know that loving a man and bearing abuse for him are two diffrent things altogether .
Savita's hypocritical stand of welcoming Shravani as a martyr inspite of being impregnated before marraige and calling Archu who obediently remained a virgin due to her unfair order of not consummating till Satyanarayan pooja a badchalan is the worst deed of all . She knows exactly how chaalu her son Sachin was .........he pinched girls on their butt and moved so fast for sex that he didnt wait for marraige even . Yet they r not badchalan...........Archu is .
And btw............Sulochana is not greedy for money , had she been , she wud not have REFUSED Satish the first time Bhavna re approached her with the proposal . She categorically refused then saying currently her daughter was not ready for it . As against that , savita licks Girish's shoes so much for money that she didnt even blame him for Sachins death ...........the moneyminded monster is Savita , not Sulochna . The uneasiness that Sulochana has in her heart for the Deshmukhs is not coz they r poor .........it is coz they r all dominated and ineffective before a monster called Savita, and she is perfectly justified in feeling that way !
