I agree. But I'd have to say that Remo is just as dissapointing this year as Geeta. His choreography this week for Friday's episode was pathetic! It had nothing to it! I didn't even see a point to it.
The thing is, Geeta doesn't even use what she's good at to her advantage. She's trained in classical dancing and a good background in classical dance can really help you be a great dancer in other areas. Classical dance requires strength, flexibility, grace, balance, agility: in short almost all aspects of all other types of dance. So if she incorporated her experience and training and gave what she knows to her dancers, they could grow. She could for example, put in more classical types of performances. Like for someone like Darmesh whom I feel is already well trained in his own style of dance, he would benefit from gaining experience in another form of dance. I have a feeling he's going to get typecasted very soon.
Like Terrence for instance, he gives his dancers the knowledge he has. He provides them with his training to add to what they already know. While doing this he also brings in freshness and creativity to all his dances.
And even Remo tries to bring what he is best at (i.e. hip hop and popping locking etc.) to his dancers. However, Remo lacks that innovative and fresh aspect that Terrence has. His acts look good the first time, but after awhile they get repetitive and you lose interest watching them.
So really, I think Geeta should maybe try to use her experience and her own training a bit more. Also, what I like in Terrence and what I feel the other two judges lack is his desire to learn. He's a true dancer and artist in the sense that he tries to reach new levels each time. He's always trying to learn and outdo himself, which is why every act of his is creative, innovative and as you said, with a vision. And I get the feeling that Remo and Geeta on the other hand are too cocky. They are in for the competition and not to improve themselves. DID not only gives dancers a chance to learn and grow but also the masters. So if Remo and Geeta ever feel like they have done it all and they don't need to improve themselves then they can't possibly succeed.
Terrence is a true mentor in the sense that he not only allows his dancers to grow in terms of dance but also in character. He brings about these feelings of bonding, teamwork, loyalty and dedication to dance which ultimately help his team grow in all areas. He has that perfect balance of encouragement and criticism. While Remo and Geeta's team always give out these really competitive vibes. While Terence's dancers come out at the end of the competition better overall dancers, Remo's and Geeta's stay where they were. An example of this would be Salman, Prince and Siddesh from last year. I don't think they really gained anything from DID in terms of dancing, the only thing they got more of was fame.
Indeed when all the dancers start out, they're all a great bunch of talent. But it is after they are divided in teams that we realize how much of their growth is dependent on their mentors. If only Geeta and Remo would lose some of their overly competitive nature and cockiness I feel they would be better mentors. And Geeta should also, if not try to incorporate different styles of dancing, at least put in what she's best at- more classical and bollywood forms of dance.
It's also the fact that this whole competition is not just between the dancers but also between the masters. Hence the masters need to get out of what's best for them and think about how their dancers can benefit from their experience. And unfortunately Terence is the only one who has managed to do this best, which is why his dancers (no matter how weak in the begining) always shine through.
