Hi all..
It is not hockey team who is keeping the nation on ransom it is such officials who instead of being ashamed of their behaviour with players, are talking such shamelessly. These officials should be panished or suspend....they are not even payed the money which is being promised to them... What is 25 thousand today.... Why they are treating humans in inhuman way... its true that cricketers are given all the facilities and bucks butthey deserve it.they done it with there own perfomance,if indian hockey is facing this probs today..then its there perfomance if they perform well and get indian's hockey glory back then nobody can ignore them.lets your perfomance speak first then if no solution .then players should revolt along with media and masses......
Who can we blame this issue...public or govt....I think We people are not interested in Hockey or other sports except cricket. Player's salary depends upon the income of the concerned boards. If we people show interest in Hockey & other sports obviously the income increases, then the players can be paid more than they expect...
Is it discrimination in the same country...cricket n hockey....Why to blame Govt. or IHF ? We Indians are mad behind cricket and totally ignore all other sports so do the Govt. The govt. dose the thing majority people want. Ask yourself, how many times you watched and enjoyed hockey match ? or can you name all Indian hockey team members ?😊

how can you force someone to have an interest in something?
you cant go behind every indian to watch a hockey match just because it is our national game?
btw i am not a cricket supporter, i dont like it either..but i am not sure what can be done for the hockey players.

Hmm pl use your hockey sticks to whack the officials. 😆
I always though Hockey was a very popular sport in India too.

Hockey India definitely seems to be red-faced. The player have challenged it and I hope the players dont move back from their list of demands, afterall what they are asking is well deserved. You cant even think of paying the national players of a national game a daily allowance of 20$ per day while on tour. Ridiculous. 😕Why do the administrators want to gobble up the money? Afterall it is the players who sweat it out on the turf! If the players back down at this stage, this type of exploitation would continue for ever, which is bad for Indian Hockey, "the so called national game"

i agree that if they perform well people do get interested in that game and money does pour in. but this is also true that without good facilities and training they cannot really give their best. and motivation in the form of money, fame , recognition etc. is a must in any game. corruption in public sector is really eating up india. all these people r concerned is filling up their pockets and to hell with what happens to the good will and name of their country.
so i think there should be an endeavor from both the sides- players and govt.

At one time India and Pakistan were the two countries that dominated this sport. since then it was been all the way down I guess as other countries caught up with their better training facilities etc.
I am not a hockey player but still support the sport.
My preference is soccer or English Football.

I heard Sahara group has pumped in Rs. 1crore only for the players now. I hope this goes only to the players.
How I wish Lalit Modi and BCCI had taken some initiative to revive the national sport of India. How I wish there comes an entity called BHCI, cash rich, in times to come.
Trust me, Hockey is a more interesting sport then even T20 to watch....but no one enjoys being on the losing side, consistently.

Reviewing old articles someone wrote, produced below. no wonder the disappointment with Hockey.
SHOCKING! After 80 years, India fails to qualify for Olympics
Author: Sudheendra Tripathi Date: 10 Mar 2008

Four-time Olympian Dhanraj Pillay is pained by the performance dished out by the Indian midfielders in the Olympic qualifier against Great Britain this morning.

For India, the 0-2 loss means for the first time since 1928, India have failed to qualify for the prestigious Olympic Games to be held in Beijing this year.

Slamming the team's performance, the former India captain said, "There was absolutely no coordination between the defence and midfield." The 39-year-old added, "The midfielders played so very badly that I was surprised Great Britain did not win by a bigger margin.

"The team was very low on confidence and the missed chances compounded India's problems further," he said.

Former India skipper Viren Rasquinha, who is pursuing a business management degree at the prestigious Indian School of Business in Hyderabad, added that he was shocked at India's defeat. "I think this was the worst performance ever.

We have played many matches and sometimes results have gone against us. But we have never appeared so clueless in an outing. Where was the strategy? The performance was unbelievably poor," the former center half said. "The team failed in all departments and lacked discipline too."

*****************************************

1) Is Indian hockey really lying on its deathbed and breathing its last or is there a chance that a miracle will revive it?

2) Who really killed the Indian hockey?

  • Cricket?BCCI?
  • The Indian hockey associations and bureaucracy?
  • Lack of funds
  • Lack of corporate backing
  • Media?
  • Public?
