Instead of asking to stop if the teacher actually throws the ball, then such a behaviour, atleast for me, will come across as a bit over the top. Different people will perceive it in different ways. I'm talking about how I perceived certain elements of the execution. Of course, what counts in an ad is how the target audience perceive it. But then determining that is beyond the scope of this debate. Maybe, if we can have a small in depth interview of female DMers; age 30 - 55 yrs; belonging to SEC A/B households; using detergent powder in the same price range of Surf Excel; etc. then we can come to a safe enough conclusion about the perception of the execution among the target audience.

Well, I never thought of the throw of ball in either ways as you think. In fact, when I took out this topic, I never thought that someone would find the child's act repulsive, as an individual or as a parent. I found it very cute and conveying a totally different relationship between a teacher and student. What mattered was the end-result of getting that smile on teacher's face and the way she hugs the child with all the muck on his uniform. The act of child in the whole story, to this context, is appealing and not disgusting/repulsive.

Out of so many views, I again find only 2-3 members responding. While, I have got sufficient feed back from colleagues, friends and their wives, I took out the topic here just because I saw the ad. yesterday.
By discussing the act of child so much, the comparision of the two ads. Surf Vs Nirma seems to have been diluted.
To me, Surf ad. is more appealing than the Nirma ad.

I loved the surf ad.! 😛
that kid is so cute and he is doing something like what most parents or elder siblings do when they pretend to be a horse and let a toddler ride on their back... as kids have limited vocabulary and articulaton, acting out or animating is his way to get his teacher out of gloom. The last thing on any childs mind is getting his clothes dirty..
the msg seems positive too...literally and metaphoricalyit it conveys that its not a biggy if ones clothes/hands get dirty to achieve desired end result.
