SAREGAMAPA and ZEE TV have started almost at the same time. The show attracted many music lovers as it was purely based on talent. People started respecting the show, music directors started depending upon the show for new talent. It enjoyed its popularity for many years without any real competition.
Then Indian Idol 1 happened on Sony, which went on to become a very popular show, as it involved audience in choosing the idol.
First time Saregamapa experienced its 1st set back. There was a definite drop in TRP ratings. Naturally that must have worried GS. Then the new format of SRGMP challenge started. First time voting system has been introduced. Programme started with a good note.
November 2005, Indian Idol 2 started. GS must have started worrying again about TRP ratings. He had to think of something, to increase viewer ship…
What will Ekta Kapoor do to increase ratings? She will bring a shocking twist by killing a character or will introduce a high voltage emotional twist to the story..
I think GS, too did the same. He started his direction with ID's walk out, ULFA threats, the consequent hem-himani-vinit walk out, many ugly fights, emotions n many tears! He touched a very sensitive subject of regionalism in a very planned manner.
The result… for all of you to see. Everybody started discussing SRGMP. The amount of votes received by the show has increased from 50 lakh odd votes to 1.28 crore votes. That means viewer ship has been doubled. That's exactly GS wanted.
So, now you can all very well figure out the reasons behind all these dramas which are taking place on SRGMP.Thi
Coming to the contestants, I feel they are least effected by these high voltage dramas. You can clearly see the friendly rapport they share. They are very much comfortable with other contestants…its only us who are fighting.. 😊
Anyways….GS can now start directing soap operas, just like Ekta Kapoor. And, I bet he will do a great job!!
