anyone else find the indian currency system a bit confusing.. i always thought a lakh was a million.. found it recently that its only a 100k.... and that a crore is infact a million..

Why is it like that..? Why dont they just equate the lakhs to a million.. or just eliminate it altogether.. wouldn't it be easier to just count in thousands.. 100 thousand and stuff..

Lolz!!😆 The rest of world find US system confusing!
It goes like this: Start counting from the last digit of a particular number): For ex in this particular number 1,00,00,000 .
And count (from R to L), Units, Tens, Hundreds, Thousands, Ten Thousands, Lakhs, 10 lakhs, 1 crore. We were taught this in school..See its that easy😊

all of it.. its hard to explain.. i think india is the only country to count at the 100's level .. everyone else counts at the 1000's level.. it gets confusing when you are converting dollars to rupees.. 😕

But it's fun na. You only have ten, hundred, thousand, million, billion. We use all these plus lakh and crore too as intermediate stops. More names, more fun. 😛
And just why should we bother about how the whole world counts when we're counting money or solving a maths problem inside our country. 😛
