He has a reason to post the contract because Chetan is claiming that he din't get the credit which was promised to him ,so as a proof that Vidhu and company went as per the signed contract only ,he had to put it on his blog😊..
Also Chetan in early interview claimed that he liked the script and so gave a green signal to Vidhu for making the film and now he is contradicting himself by saying that he was not knowing the script😕😆..
Why a well educated guy like Chetan will sign this all important contract without even reading the script of the film ??😕..so somewhere I found his allegations completely baseless😕
Mayb the book is similar to the film...I won't comment because I hvn't read the book..but then he should hv made sure about this credit issue in the contract itself na..whats the use of crying foul now ??😆

Honestly, I have read the book as well as seen the movie and yes the movie adapts a lot of the book into the screenplay. It may be different in the way certain scenes are carried forth but the overall gist of the movie is still pretty existent in the movie.

I am not too sure who I support at this point because on one hand if I was the author, I would be slightly disappointed and offended if my name was at the very end of the movie, where no one reads it.

On the other hand, legally speaking, everything was done according to the contract so the producer (technically speaking) cannot be blamed for it.

However, if I were to go with what I would do if I were the producer... I would definitely put the credit at the beginning of the movie as that is what a lot of other movies do. I would also expect the same if i was the author.

Chetan Bhagat is not going to get anything out of doing this because his books have already reached a lot of people in India and everyone knows someone who has a copy of it. i have found the book on various downloading websites online, the book is available everywhere so he is not getting publicity at least for this book and he already has a pretty loyal group of fans, so just like Aamir he doesn't need the publicity.

One thing that is annoying-- Why is Aamir speaking about all this? ESPECIALLY since he hasn't even read the book...

first of all i don't know much about contract or business laws but is it legal for someone to publish a "contract" with personal information such as home address etc in a public platform?? because if i was that dude i would be majorly pissed off if my home address is published on a website an made available to everyone...

and i don't have the patience or brain to read through it all, but does it even state anywhere in the contract that the only credit the author of the book will get will be in finer print at the end credit along with the extras and other production crews???

because as a layman i was perusing through the pages and on page 4, all it says is that the movie maker will credit the author in "rolling credits of any AV moving image software" saying "based on the Novel"...

HAHAHA so it was the producer of the film trying to shaft the author by using all these unclear movie jargon.. so what is so clear about "rolling credits"?? so the author probably was happy he'll get his credit and VVC being a dodgy shifty little person decided he will credit the guy randomly with the other minor production crew in smaller print so, where no one will notice it and mislead the public and still play by the book..gawd just like any other dodgy businessmen and lawyers and their play on words...

what a shady person VVC is... hopefully Chetan B and other authors and people involved in creative/writing industries pay more attention to what they're signing (when they're dealing with these unethical Bollywood people) and consult a lawyer and get them to give these "contracts" a once/twice/thrice overs so they don't get ripped off by these lawyers and their misleading shady business practices...

Home address and Signatures! YIKES! At least block those out before you put it online! Those are personal information!

And I agree writers need to be careful before they sign off stuff with buisnessmen....rolling credits ya but where in the rolling credits it doesn't say! That's crucial! You are probably right...CB probably didn't know rolling credit means at the end! Hence he never asked about WHERE in the rolling credits!

Anyways CB's statement abt the script is confusing...he once said he read the final script and was ok with it and then he blogged yesterday saying he wasn't allowed to read the script! What was that about?

I am still confused though!

From the very beginning, neither Chetan Bhagat nor any of his fans (who started this whole controversy in the first place, by urging Chetan to raise the issue!) have staked a legal claim over his credit in the movie!
The issue is ethical. And this whole thing of 2 - 5% inspiration is just about the silliest thing one has heard! Either you are inspired by something or you are not! How can you quantify how much you are insipired with? 😕
The fact is that 3 Idiots retains the soul of the book and anyone who has read the book and seen the movie will vouch for that! Its not a question of how many scenes are similar or how many dialouges are lifted off straight from the book...the core premise of the film is FPS. Its there to see! And for that Chetan has not been given 'due' credit.
On the other side, Chetan is educated, experienced and I know for a fact, smart enough to take care of himself and his interests! If he feels so strongly about being sidelined, he should realize that he had 2 full years to know what was going on and done something about it! His raving and ranting now does look a bit oppourtunistic!
Btw, VVC is being highly idiotic by putting up the contract on the blog...especially since it has details about Chetan's address and all! The guy has already come across like the biggest fool on Earth by shouting on the media and then grovelling in front of them with an apology...now I have a feeling, that Chetan will actually sue him for publishing the contract on Internet without his permission!

For me, what matters is the ethics. Ethically, it's wrong what they've done. And VVC has always been a bad person, and this makes him even more shady and selfish and just plain horrible. Oh and, he also lacks ethics.

Also, rolling credits could mean anything. Like any normal and sane person, CB probably thought they'd credit him as soon as the movie ended with a larger more visible font. Who would thing VVC and team were so unethical as to put it in between cameramen and spotboy credits where its barely noticeable?
