Soumya Tandon not excited with daily soaps
Saumya Tandon, who started her career with the daily soap Aisa Des Hai Mera and then Meri Awaaz ko Mil Gayi Roshni now doesn't have any intention to do another daily soap.
She told in a recent interview, "I think I can't understand the whole concept of daily soaps in India where it's more about churning out 25 minutes of programming and very little creativity. Acting in those soaps almost becomes just a job and I am really disillusioned with the system," she says.
On the other hand, she is happy with the second season of Zee TV's Dance India Dance, which she is hosting along with Jai Bhanushali.
"I can't tell you how excited I am that the second season has started. I am happy that I am associated with Dance India Dance, which is more about dance and less about getting a star in the show or controversies. The show has become successful not because the channel has spent huge money or got a big star, it is winning because it focuses on real talent. It came after big shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Nach Baliye, but showed dance that Indian audiences have never seen before," she said in the print
About sharing screen time with Jai, she added, "The show is about talent and not who gets how much footage. At the end, we are all working towards the same goal of making the show better."
Her role as Kareena Kapoor's sister in Jab We Met was noticed but she never did another film. "I didn't find anything interesting, so I stayed away. I do not want to do anything beyond A-grade films since to be recognised even the script plays the important role. I am busy with Punjabi films and if something good comes then will do it."
