' please fasten your seatbelts and place your chair in the upright position'
Gunjan clasped the sides of her seats tightly. She was sweating profusely. It was her first time on a plane. She felt sick. Uhhh. Why had she decided to come??
The morning had started off pretty normally. Last minute packing and shedding a few tears. Everything had seemed fine until she had gotten into the actual plane. Now all she wanted to do was run away as fast and far as possible.
'kripya apni kursi ke peti bandh li jiye aur apne kursi ko seedha ke jiye. Plane udaan ke liye tayaar hai.'
Gunjan didn't know how she was going to make it through 19 hours of flying. She wished she hadn't come on this stupid trip. But she was doing it for Samrat. Speaking of which, he was in the seat next to her, flipping the pages of a magazine, calm as ever.
G: Samrat? Tumhe dar nahi lagta?
Samrat turned to face her.
S: Dar? Main kyun daroonga?
G: meta matlab hai... Iss plane me behethne ke liye. Of flying. Tumhe bilkul bhi dar nahi lagta?
Samrat laughed.
S: woh kya hai na? Mere papa ke paas do jets hai. Maine usme buhot baar travel kiya hai. Iss liye mujhe dar nahi lagta. ... Tumhe lag raha hai kya?
G: ... Thoda sa.
Samrat looked down at her hands. They had become pale white because of her tight grasp on the arm of the chair. He smiled. It was the first time he had seen her scared... truly scared. She was biting her lips and sweating hard. Thoda sa...? Yeah right.
The plane slowly started moving forward. Now she had her eyes shut and gave a slight whimper. Samrat was dazed. She looked so innocent that he wanted to hug her. Instead, he placed his hand firmly on top of hers. He wanted her to know that he was there for her. No matter what. This movement got her to open her eyes and turn towards him. She was as surprised as him. He couldn't believe what he had just done. It was like he had been in a trance.
S: daro mat chashmish. Main hoon na? Tumhe much nahi hoga.
Something about the way he said those words made her believe him. She couldn't help but give him a smile.
G: thx Samrat.
Samrat felt a slight shock of electricity run through him and for a moment he felt something he had never felt before. He didn't know exactly what.
'the captain has now switched off the seatbelt sign. We have successfully taken off. Refreshments will be offered along with blankets. We hope you enjoy your stay with American airlines'.
Gunjan couldn't believe it! The flight had taken off and she hadn't even noticed!
Gunjan was still scared but Samrat was holding her hand tightly. She knew nothing would happen to her because Samrat was always there for her.
Three hours had passed. Samrat still hadn't let go of her hand. She was happy. she knew that Samrat didn't love her but she also knew that this was the closest she was going to get to it.
Samrat's thoughts:
For some reason I held on to her hand. I didn't want to let go. I enjoyed re feeling of her hand entwined in mine. I wasn't ready to let go... Not yet.
Another hour passed. gunjan was starting to drift asleep. Her head slowly touched his shoulder. Five minutes later gunjan was fast asleep with her head resting on Samrat's shoulder.
When Samray turned to looks at her, he was left mesmerised. He saw the same innocence that he had seen earlier multiplied a thousand times. For a moment he forgot how to breathe. Her hand still held his. He subconciously caressed her cheek. She took no notice. He delta sudden longing for her like he had never felt before. He brushed away a lock of hair from her eyes. She was the most beautiful gurl he had ever set eyes on. He gently pulled her closer so that she may not awake. He knew that if she did, he would never again be this colse to her. And e wanted to be. More than anything.
All at once there was a burst of turbulence which woke Gunjan up. She noticed her sleeping position and quickly sat up.
G: sry samrat... Woh mujhe dhyaan hi nahi raha ke mera sar tumhaare upar tha.
S: don't be sry Chashmish. Mujhe achcha lagga.
Gunjan almost choked.
G: kya kaha tumhe...?
That was when Samrat realized what he had said. He was shocked to say the least.
S: umm... Kuch nahi.
Samrat's thoughts:
Yeh tujhe kya ho gayya hai? Yeh Chashmish hai... Teri best friend! Uske saamne hi itna stupid hona tha kya? Lagta hai tu sach much paagal ho gayya hai.
He sighed and tried to ignore the fact that he shouldn't be getting these new feelings. Especially for his Chashmish.
End.
That's it for now! Plz tell me what u think of it! Thx! Will post again tomorrow!
