Shaad Ali's wedding in Lucknow gave him a chance to call his good friends Abhishek Bachchan (who was supposed to do Shaad's first film Saathiya) and Vivek Oberoi(who was in Saathiya) were also present.

Reclusive mentor Mani Rathnam whom Shaad assisted for several years (Saathiya was a frame-by-frame remake of Rathnam's Tamil hit Alai Payuthe) flew all the way from Chennai to Lucknow.

Coincidentally, some of Shaad's friends including Saif, Vivek and Kareena were shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj's Othello in Lucknow, they were naturally invited.

I wasn't invited

Strangely, Othello director Vishal Bharadwaj who was in Lucknow with his wife Rekha and son, Aasman, were left out of the guest list.

When contacted Vishal admitted, "I wasn't at the wedding because I wasn't invited. But that's fair enough. Shaad doesn't know me. And I was too busy with shooting and planning my next day's shoot to attend a wedding."

But the fact remains, it does seem outright rude to invite a part of a team and leave the captain out.

Coincidentally, Vishal and Shaad have a lot in common. They are both from Uttar Pradesh. Shaad's Bunty Aur Babli was shot on location in the cities of UP, just like Vishal's Othello.
