A man owns a factory outlet in Rome. It's one of those ancient warehouses turned into semi-heritage sites, visited often by important people from all across the globe.
Barrack Obama makes his first visit to Rome after his election, and arrives at the warehouse to have a look around. He meets the owner quite cordially, but then catches sight of someone behind him, and walks away with a warm greeting immediately. The ownder turns around to see Obama fraternising with one of his workers, Morton, in the fashion of long lost friends. Unimpressed, he turns away.
A week later, Sarkozy arrives on his annual tour, and shakes hands with the owner for barely a second before rushing off to greet Morton with a hug and a slap on the back. The owner remains unimpressed.
Another week past, and Tony Blair arrives, with the exact same consequences. Still unimpressed, the owner walks up to Morton after Blair's departure, and says drily : "I bet you don't know the Pope." Morton shrugs.
The two of them land at the Vatican for the Pope's address from the pulpit. A huge crowd has gathered in the square. The owner smiles smugly and turns to Morton, only to find an empty space where he had just been standing beside him. He turns to look up at the balcony where the Pope has appeared, and sure enough, there is Morton, standing beside His Grace himself.
The owner is now in a fix, struggling to make sense of it all when a pair of Chinese tourists tap his shoulder, and ask him a simple question:
"So sorry, new here. Just have one question. Who's the guy in white next to Morton?"
