TRPs are defective measure

Hey guys I just tried 2 understand about how trps are measured from my close friend working with a popular entertainment channel.
The process is completely defective.
One device is attached 2 few 1000 or some households in each Zone -Nort, west, east and south.
The device keeps an eye on the shows seen on those tv sets.
Do u think that such kind of sample survey is actually reliable 4 measurement of trps.
Do u think that the choice of those few really reflects the choice of India?
Its also not clear how those viewers r selected?

I have read that the total sample size from all across india is 8000 homes, and they come with trp's from that.

i think it's a totally unreliable measurement! as india is a diverse and a large population, u can't sample with just 8000!!!

but again advertisers still take this number and value the show on this sample, as there is no other sample out there from where they can learn about the popularity of the show.

But if the chosen households have only housewives, they will like to watch the rona dhona shows..Among them only few (who have different views) might like to watch something real...something different; then some good shows (like AA) which have a connection to real life won't get TRP. I'm saying only about women because about 95% of the viewers r women..may be a lil less or lil more. Again working people don't have much time even to watch TVs. If they watched they should have watched the shows connected with real lives as they r meeting people from different phrases of life. If the TRPs r not good of a good show that can't be said it's not good, even though it might be popular.

So, how the TRP be reliable? TRP system is a full defective. People should not go a decision through this....!!

TRPs are definitely defective. But unfortunately the industry whole and sole criteria for measurement are trps. many a show has fallen a victim to trps. im afraid aka will become a victim soon. it was perfect for the 8.30. in the 10.30 other channels already have established massy shows. yahan main could have easily taken on the competition. but for aka its harder...so now we have aka falling trp wise. and yahan main hasnt given zee any extra trps at the 8.30 pm slot.

oh really...are u sure. that will be sad. I was hoping AKA would go on for atleast a year. but yes news of a new show made me feel that AKA would be zee's target.
i thought shows like balika vadhu, aka, agle janam, ladoo, uttaran, ladies special would herald a change on television. instead now i see they have simply reinforced stereotypes. so low profile shows like aka and LS go off air while highly dramatic shows enjoy success for years all thanks to the channel taking good care of their favorites.
