suggestions to balance Regional Voting

Regional voting is nothing new....it was there even in Ms.World contest last year....where a number of good candidates went out due to partisan voting...

After taking into consideration lots of criticism on this partisan judgement, this time around, Ms. World organisers changed the format and created a Ms. Region i.e., Miss Asia Pacific, Miss North America, etc.. and among them, the winner Ms. World was chosen by a jury consisting mostly of earlier years Ms.Worlds....

So, suggestion to Mr. Gajendra Singh...

- First create four challengers i.e., North, South, East and West and

- then have eminent music personalities like Pt. Jasraj, Pt. ShivkumarSharma, Pt. HariPrasadChaurasia, Pt. Balamurali Krishna, Pt. K.J.Jesudas etc. and

- make these finalist go through classical, light classical, Folk and cinema rounds and

- decide the winner...

Other suggestions, opinions welcome....

Thanks junky for this piece of information...

People from rest of India should vote for Debo, so that percentage of vote from NE will automatically go down and percentage of rest of the India's vote will go up.

yes, I agree...for the current competition people from rest of india should vote so that there is some balance....but in any case, I don't buy this regional bias in voting story...each one is not voting for free...

My suggestions above to Gajendra singh are for his next show...

I like it. That way everyone has a candidate that they wanted. But then
you would have people in W Bengal grumble that Assam has too influence
in the vote, blah blah blah.

I think that public voting is the problem. As we say in Bengali -- Ora

As mdroy pointed out - the "regionalism" will continue on down in a more specific level, with individual states, then cities, towns...pointing fingers at each other.
Public voting has become part of SRGMP's identity. The entire conept is "Aapki choice, India ki voice." As many others have suggested, it would probably be better to have the public and mentor voting count for 5-10% each. The rest should be left upto a panel of esteemed judges (can we include ARR? 😊)

Why this discussion now.. It will be unfair to first 10 participants at this point of time. The game has to continue the way it is, no matter what results are.

All the changes and suggestions are good, but can be used only after the game is over, or call all the 12 constests back, and restart the process..

I don't know about the other members who have posted on this thread, but I was merely suggesting for the next Challenge (provided there is one).
And as to why now...it's a topic most of us are very passionate about, and can't find enough opportunities to voice our dissatisfaction.

Well the easy solution to avoid this issue is for SRGMP to not disclose the regions of any participants. 😆 It is as easy as that and then let India decide. The participants should go by their first names only 😃 and then ofcourse have neutral judges and not unfair and competitive mentors giving points. AS & HR always tried to give less points to Debojit. It was unfair 😡

I think the only way to solve the regional voting problem is to have all other
countries except India vote for the contestants.

It would be very easy to implement. Reject any SMSs received from Indian
phones.

EZ.

Moral of the Story: Only foreigners can fairly decide what is right for India -
who is 'India ki voice'
