A little emboldened by several positive comments, and in the off chance that someone from the KB production team occasionaly scours the net to see what is being said, I'd like to offer this:
Thank you for your offering... it was treat and not just for the thoughts expressed but also the word-craft... hope u keep keep at it!! Let this be one more reason for you to do so since u felt you had to justify your outpur ... or perhaps that little bit was to add to the whole-ness of the well-composed piece! a beginning a middle and an end! 😊I have to play catch-up since we're a good week behind as compared to all you lucky beasts in India 😭awww... there are worse things that can happen... imagine another lovers tiff! *horror... if its any consolation im not one of the "lucky beasts" either and there're plenty of us out there! 😊Nevertheless . . .I just got a chance to see the 5.5 min vignette from the episode where Abhi asks Simi to meet him in the kitchen. Everything between them from that point on was so sweet it made my heart ache . . . I could feel . . . palpably . . . the excitement of new love, the maddening desire to be with each other, to want to give a token of that love to keep thoughts of you alive - all to the point that you risk life and limb (I think had he been caught, Mr. Sethi would certainly have broken a limb or 2 of his, but spared his life 😊 ) to go on this crazy escapade . . .The 2 in silhouette was a lovely touch from a dramatic standpoint . . . His gifting her that bell of his was just out of this world sweet (I simply cannot think of an adjective that characterizes it accurately) . . . yup, that's what happens . . .I imagine this has little appeal for the pragmatists of this world, but for us 'suckers for romance' it's pure heaven ( I luuuuvvvvv well done romances 😊 ).Yes!!! Oh yes!! but "well-done" is of essence here and thats where subjectivity rules supreme! To each his own!That said . ..I hope they get to a point where those feelings melt into tenderness and he actually does more than just grab her hand/arm 😕 I'd like to see him hold her . . . and if kissing gets the production team into hot water with the moronic authorities, that could be dispensed with 😕 I cannot imagine that such a moment would cause shock or consternation among the viewers. Only prudes would object . . . but they're already long gone because the entire premise of the serial would have offended all their sensibilities practically from the outset . . . so who gives a fig!delayed gratifcation n all that! 😉I very cursorily read comments about the episode where there are barbs exchanged between the 2 (I wait with bated breath) and how awful & repugnant that was . . . how could he be so mean . .. how could she retaliate in equal measure . . . well . . . that happens too . . . jealousy followed by anger followed by nastiness followed by repentance . . . I cannot conceive how romantic love (as opposed to Platonic) would not entail such a state of affairs . . . bards sang of and extolled romantic, not agape love (as between a parent and child) . . . think Tristan and Isolde or Heer-Ranjha . . . shoot . . . who cares that it's all make-believe . . . it's a fairly recurring theme in literature, and now, film . . . in that well known 16th century bard Will Shaksepeare's (or de Vere (the 6th (?) Earl of Oxford thought to be him) Othello gets so jealous that in wild rage, he actually throttles his 'pure as the driven snow' of a wife to death . . . remember that?! Hell . . . Abhi and SImi calling each other you're such a kid' and 'you look old enough to be someone's mom' is laughably mild . . . how is it possible that Abhi would not be terrified (and jealous) at the prospect of losing her?!! To Nakul?!! Yuck!Oh yes It happens...Absolutely! Never has a tale worth telling been told without its rise and fall... but as a discerning viewer i ask (demand, if I can get my way!) to be taken along on the ride... i expect to atleast understand, if not feel (that to me is the epitome of great story-telling) the messy emotions... which didnt happen in this instance of nastiness... the whole thing felt half-baked and unconvincing and all those other things that have been said umpteen times here... not to mention i was already resentful because of the sudden change in perceived ages....anyway, did i mention "subjectivity" 😊I also like what's happening between the sisters . . . Simi is gently co-erced by Mili to confide . . . Neetu finds a confidant in Simi . . . lovely . . . of course there will be hypocrisy (Simi asking Neetu not to see Vicky in secret!! Wha?! Come again?!! ) . . . Of course there will be friction and threats but I look forward to seeing how these aspects are handled by the show's production team.Go Sunshine Productions!! You have my vote!! 😊All said and done i can't wait for Monday... n that in itself is a reason for applaud... a great way to send the blues packing!
no it wasn't!... hence the use of the word "perceived"...and the ensuing feelings of deception and resentment!
does it really change the plot in any serious way?
Since you haven't yet seen what I'm going on about... its rather futile discussing the subject matter... but as I have strong opinions on the matter, like I've said elsewhere too, and I love intelligent conversations, or the next best thing (u see subjectivity, is a wonderful thng! 😊) here's my take on it...
So, to answer your question ... yes it does!
Had we been told from the very beginning that he was 22 we'd have probably bought it.... 22 year old boys run on testosterone and adrenaline, but there can always be exceptions...heck exceptions are just the ones worth talking about...except, we were granted the liberty of making up our own minds about his age within reasonable limits ...we were presented with the facts that he was younger than Anita and still at school... and then he estimated himself to be 5-6 yrs younger than Simi (a cardinal sin, which ensues they changed their minds later!) ... We had him happily pegged at 24-25!
However the tempest in the tea-pot rose when the creators had him declare himself 22 in the thick of it all (having just robbed us of a perfect climax after building up to a crescendo, which was fine dramatically, the rise n fall of a story n all that!) and it became a mighty storm when they had him act like a pre pubescent boy in throws of his first crush... a complete 360 degrees turn from the qualities which made him the MAN for Simi!
Reducing his age allows the writers to add more spice by giving him some more of those hilarious lines (see my other post on the 'do you like cast' thread - I'm getting ready to respond to stuff there . . . with another dissertation ) words that make sense from the mouth of a veritable babe ;
Come now!! Surely there are a gazzillion other ways of adding spice!
I find myself strongly resistant to the premise that he is going to be invariably messing up! (your post elsewhere, I dare to respond here because I don't want to keep repeating myself!) WhiIe an Abhi with a perpetual foot in his mouth might be delightful even adorable he'd seem, like I said, more suited to Neetu than Simi. At best a shadow of his former self.
the change while abrupt, may have had to be done for budgetary reasons i.e. surely Sunshine Prods. haven't a bottomless pit of money and so must cast their net to the same extent as Mr. Sethi has to spread his sheet (sorry for mangling the metaphors) and a story has to be told
Not reason enough to accept whatever they dish out... again surely they could have handled it better!
which is why I was hopelessly puzzled about what this tempest in a tea-pot was all about i.e. 'why don't they show some intervening stuff for consistency?' . . . why? . . . the budget constraints bite and how much intervening stuff would be sufficient? Down to each hour of each day? Furthermore, something must be left as an exercise for the viewer (anyone wishing to drop a few pounds/kilos can benefit from this ) . . . how I envision the intervening stuff is almost certainly different than yours . . . or his . . . or hers . . . or theirs . . .
I have no problems with intervening stuff... in fact I welcome it... but I do have trouble when the protagonists have split personalities and I'm not told! That'll need a lot of therapy! 😊
