| Ash beats SRK Aishwarya Rai |
Aishwarya defeated SRK by a convincing margin in a popularity contest conducted by the emerging website for celebrity news, desifans.com. To a 32.2 per cent share of vote for Shahrukh, Aishwarya won a staggering 67.8 per cent.
The Star Wars clash started way back in September 2005 with two strong groups, the desi male celebs and the desi female divas. Round by round, stars were eliminated and Aishwarya Rai beat Sania Mirza for the female title while Shahrukh emerged victorious defeating master blaster Sachin Tendulkar to clinch the male title.
Naya kya hai?
With everybody and his uncle launching one celebrity calendar after another, this one comes as no surprise. Gold's Gym launches its calendar today.
Aarti Chabria
It has dual pictures on each month, of a patron including the likes of Tania Zaetta, Riteish Deshmukh, Ishha Koppikar, Preeti Jhangiani, Aarti Chabria, Anupama Varma and others.
The peculiar choice of celebrities aside, wonder what's gonna keep us from tearing our hair out at the mention of another calendar launch?
Ek Ajnabee goes to Hollywood

| Bunty Walia |
Producer Bunty Walia is maha excited. "My brother and I got a letter from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences in Hollywood last week asking us if we could give them the screenplay of Ek Ajnabee to put in their permanent library collection, which means it will be read by people all over the world. It came as a bolt from the blue. We are thrilled!" he says.
So, for Walia's sake, we will ignore the fact that it wasn't an original script to begin with. He goes on to add, "We have moved onto our next project Just Punjabi, which we will launch in 2007.
It will be directed by Apoorva Lakhia and the cast includes Mr Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Abhishek. Aishwarya is on my wish list of heroines." Strangely, the previously flop Ash-Abhi jodi is most wanted on-screen these days…
Smriti's on cloud nine
One of the reasons as to why Smriti Z Iraani is beaming these days is the success of her Gujarati play — Maniben.com that opened on Sunday night in Tejpal auditorium.
Smriti
"I am overwhelmed by the response I got for the play. Of course, without Zubin, it would have been impossible for me to achieve what I have," she says.
Produced under her own banner Ugraya Entertainment along with Megha Arts, the play revolves around a Kathiawadi rustic woman who after her marriage to a diamond trader finds herself landing up in Pali Hill. As far as her stint with theatre is concerned, Smriti made her debut last year with Kuch Tum Kaho Kuch Hum with her Kyunki co-star Apara Mehta.
