I think we are talking about tolerance more than respect for elders. One cannot force one to respect someone. Respect is automatic. It is rightly said that respect is earned . But we can tolerate our elders & not be rude out of compassion if not respect. sometimes we tolerate out of respect to someone else who wud be hurt if we retorted.
