However, I'm still not comfortable with internet slangs, i.e. all those acronyms. Regular acronyms or shortened forms are fine but when the whole post or message is a jumbled form of alphabets and numbers that need to be decoded then it becomes really difficult for me to understand.
As for cursing, apart from the fact that it shows a lack of civilised vocabulary, I've another reason for not liking it. I feel really uncomfortable if someone uses abusive language nearby, specially if I'm with someone from my family. Even middle aged people use profanity freely. Now I'm sure most of them won't use such language in front of their kids at home, so I used to wonder why use it outside. There will be other people's kids, why don't they realise that their behaviour can be extremely uncomfortable for others.
Once one of my friend and I went to Eden Gardens to watch a Pakistan vs India test match. On the fourth day of the match one Sardarji and his friend sat behind us along with two kids (both of whom were around 8 - 10 yrs old max.). Both these person throughout the day hurled the choicest abuses to the Pakistan team, even when they were receiving calls they were using abuses to chat. And all this was happening in the presence of those two little kids. I guess those two kids will grow up thinking that cursing is perfectly natural.
Having said that, I don't really feel that hell, damn, etc. should be considered in the same category as other heavy duty cuss. Although I see on TV that they even edit those words when they write the subtitles of English films.
