After his thought-provoking HAZARON KHWAISHEN AISI, filmmaker Sudhir Mishra is all set to work with his all-time favorite actor, Shiney Ahuja once again in his next film, BAHUT NIKLE MERE ARMAAN. The film produced by Prakash Jha, is based on the life and struggle of an actress and a writer from the Hindi film industry. Vidya Balan will play the role of the actress opposite Ahuja in the film. "It is my tribute to the cinema of the 50s when legendary film-makers like Guru Dutt came out with the most memorable classics. The era also saw the emergence of some great writers," Mishra reveals, adding that the film is not particularly inspired from the life story of any particular actor. "All the same I do know a lot of writers and actors who have had to slog it out the hard way to make a mark in their careers," he informs.
It is rumored that Mishra was initially considering the idea of casting Chitrangada Singh for the role of the actress but Mishra maintains that the subject of the film was conceived for Vidya only after Chitrangada took a decision to quit films. "The film began to take shape only one and a half months after she left. Vidya was always my first choice for the classic role," he reveals.
Unlike HAZARON…, this one will be made in chaste Hindi, rather as Mishra puts it, "chaste Hindustani with the richness of Urdu literature and lyrics thrown in. There's also a lot of lyrical value to it besides poetry that was so characteristic of that era," he says.
He is pleased with the fact that Shiney is going places. "He's an extremely talented actor. I always knew that he was destined to go ahead in life, when I worked with him in HAZARON KHWAISHEH AISI," he says. Mishra is also very happy about the fact that the film was nominated in the mainstream category for eight different categories in a recently held popular awards function. "It was an indication that quality films are at last getting their due," he says.
In the meantime, Shiney is all excited about working with Mishra once again. "He is more like family to me. He's the kind whom I can always turn to for advice on anything. He's happy about me for the many roles that I have signed. In fact, I owe my success to him," Shiney reveals
