Om Puri, who embellished the occasion as chief guest, while sharing his fond memories of the college, said that the initial exposure in the college and encouragement played a vital role in grooming him as a leading actor in the film industry.
He said that he was adjudged as best character and best actor for his role played in the drama Anhoni during the Youth Festival, which proved to be a stepping stone for his tremendous success as an actor.
He remembered that how, impressed by his performance, renowned figure of his time, Harpal Tiwana, showered praise on him.
He proudly declared that it was from this college only, he embarked upon his long and successful journey to Bollywood and Hollywood.
He said that it was a proud moment for him that College Ratan Award has been bestowed upon him.
Prof Kirpal Singh Badungar, former president of Shiromani Gurudwara Parbhandhak Committee (SGPC), Amritsar presided over the function.
He shared his view that the college feels proud to have nurtured and taught the students who have achieved zenith of success in their respective fields and have earned the respect for themselves, country and the institutes who have inculcated the ethics, values and vision.

Dr Dharminder Singh Ubha, principal, Khalsa College, Patiala, while welcoming the chief guest and alumni of the college, shared information about the achievements of the college.
