Just recently I was talking to my cousin about stars who we didn't like before but now they have started to grow on us. So I thought of making a topic about this so you could share your views too.
Celebs who I didn't like before but I do now:
Deepika Padukone: Frankly telling the truth, I hated her a lot, about 2 years ago. I was 12 at that time.This was around the time of OSO's release.I wasn't into bollywood at all, and I had just began reading articles about stars etc. So I blindly trusted the media and whatever they said. Articles about Deepika's affairs were around at that time. I heard about her supossed affairs with Dhoni, Nihal, Yuvraaj and Ranbir. I was disgusted. Also what made me dislike her even more was the constant PDA with Ranbir. But in these two years, I have realized soooo much about the "truthful media" and bollywood. When Shahid's link-up articles with Vidya came , I said that they were created by the media and they were untrue. (Shahid's my favourite actor so I blindly backed him up) I realized that if I can say that about my favourite star then what about other celebrities? I can easily believe articles about other celebrities who I don't like but I refuse to believe articles like that about my favourites. I was such a hypocrite. I realizied Deepika was being linked with some people, when it wasn't even true. (Ofcoarse Ranbir's case turned out to be true). But in the last few months, I saw and read some of her interviews and I was impressed by her personality. I was glad that she realized she shouldn't have made her personal life so public. Also I was impressed the way she handled the questions about Ranbir's parents not liking her. (Gosh I was irritated with a few things Rishi Kapoor said). And now I really like her. She has grown a lot on me. She is improving in her acting skills and I believe she has a long way to go. Really looking forward to KCK.
Kareena Kapoor: Very similar to Deepika's case. I also hated Kareena with a passion. Never liked her blunt and childish nature. I read some of her past interviews and she really annoyed me. With her public break-up with Shahid and sudden appearences with Saif made me dislike her even more. Every interview was all about Saifu and Saifu only. I watched Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hai with her and Saif and that was mighty irritating. She was acting like such a child! Career choices such as KI, GR and Tashan made me think, is that what she is capable of? Certainly not. Chameli, Dev, Omkara were fantastic performances. Lately she and Saif have gone down on the PDA which is a relief. And I think she has matured quite a bit. I mean most of her interviews apart from the Subash K Jha ones sound normal. I appreciate that she has endured quite a bit. She has been called so many names for her nature and for her PDA with Saif but she handled it. I do think she has given a powerful performance in Kurbaan. But she has yet to grow on me more, for me to become a proper fan. Desigal90 has also played a part in changing her image for me. But she still does things which irritate me sometimes.
Konkana Sen Sharma: I know people are going to be extremely shocked and will hate me for this. But like I said before, I wasn't into bollywood till late 2007 so I did not know much. With Konkana, it was a different case unlike Deepika and Kareena. I was just unaware of her work. All I knew was that she was an actress in bollywood and that was it. I watched Page 3 on T.V and I liked her performance. But it wasn't enough for me. I wanted to see more of her. But I didn't get too. Hardly any films release here and no other film of her's apart from Page 3 has been shown here on T.V. So all the appreciation I had for her was gone. I recently saw Luck By Chance on DVD and loved her in that movie. I really want to see other movies of hers. I want to watch WUS only because of her. Too bad it isn't releasing here. For a person like me who loved rubbish movies like SIK and Welcome, she has played a part in changing my opinion about films. After watching her performances, I realized what a true actor should be like. If people know any other really good movies of her's then please do say.
WOW, I can't believe I just wrote all of that! They are just my views, please do not be offended. And please share which actors you have started to like and why. I know I mentioned only actresses but please feel free to mention actors too. And no bashing please. If a there is a topic like this already, please mods close this topic. đ
